Tradies hard at work this morning...

Town spent 3 months paving the road our company is on and they left an 8-10" cliff coming into the driveway.
Most of my employees have cars and they bottom out when they leave.

My partner called and b!tched the town out so they sent a crew to build a skirt today.

They rolled in at 9AM, fukked around for almost an hour then when they did actually start working, immediately ran out of gas in the bobcat.

Smoke break until someone came with gas....

Chief, Rog and Curt's crew would have had it done hours ago, even with the drama

Basically what every tradie job site looks like.

I made a thread a few months ago about a tradie crew digging a hole in front of my house on the road.
- arrived at 730, said I should move my car since it was at the end of my driveway
- didn't start working til 10
- one guy in hole, 5 watching.
- do chitty patch job
- run over patch with truck on way out leaving a deformed bumpy patch.

Yes, local highway department laborer job. Kind of ideal summer job when you're 18-19 and in college. Be at the shop by 7am, be at the work site around 915-930. Lay down and smooth out the blacktop for an hour to hour and a half, rush back to the shop for lunch. Half hour lunch was always an hour or a little longer. So much downtime that I decided after a few weeks to take a college summer course at night. I got a few hours of reading done every work day.

Second summer I did it I was favored, I assume because I was strong and not an immature maricon like 20 guys I graduated high school with that were also there for the summer. So I got put on 'rubbish' almost the entire summer. Best job. We were out the door right away and would rush through an assigned route and pick up big stuff like sofas, water heaters, old refrigerators, other big and heavy chit put out to the curb. I skipped using the hydraulic lift nearly all the time, only needed the liftgate lowered out of the way. So we'd be first out the door, rush and be done by 11:30. Maybe a couple of times we had to work past noon. One of the full-timers would clock me out at 3:30pm while I went home and slept or phucked my girlfriend at the time. Guys from the garbage dept worked out of the same building and did the same thing (but got paid 2x what us temp summer workers got paid). They had an assigned route and would get it done in 3-4 hours, get paid for 8, shower, go work another job while still on the clock at their govt job.

That's unskilled labor, not tradies. Did that work two summers while in college. Tradies like the plumber I had over months ago and electricians need real training, while generic laborers need 1-2 days. A decent amount of guys in pest control and such are half salesmen, half tradie.
