wish I went into coding (ded fkn srs)

got good grades in engineering school and have a high aptitude for math & science, I could be well into 6 figures rn

worked as a chemist for years after college and switched to software engineering two years ago (was self-taught). going for a master's in comp sci now while working.

it's awesome. SWE mogs every other career hard except for maybe doctors

Law is more prestigious but actually harder to get a six figure job these days as a lawyer since its so saturated and schools only want T14 graduates now.

if you have strong aptitude and enjoyment for math and logic, go into computers. if you have a strong verbal aptitude and enjoy law then go into that.

With how things are going programmers are now being overvalued. Some can expect up to 100k starting now days and if you have a couple of years experience under your belt you can expect more than the 10% yearly raise too... so coding 100%

Working from home and remote is sick. easily coding. brb sipping pina coladas at the beach and writing some code or adding to production.

Higher barrier to entry for law. lol @ defending sleazy defendants for something they did or guilty of... Or filing bunch of stupid paperwork & claims.

Coding skills has much more leverage to life in general if you know how to apply it and automate stuff.

Robots or "AI" can only aid us in programming but end of day you can now generate code that does exactly what you want but youll still need humands to tell them what direction to go at in a way? Think self driving cars a lot can now be automated however end of day it's not going to turn on or know you want to go to the supermarket without telling it such.

Also brb 7 years of schooling and multiple exams (LSAT, bar), not to mention a competitive, oversaturated market just to end up working 60+ hours a week in corporate law for six figures.. if you're lucky

Makes sense. eventually the job market will consist of mostly button pressers and a few innovators whose solutions eventually will become automated for the button pressers

Coding you can go take some bootcamps or self-learn. Find a job within a year or two. Freelance or create your own chit.
