What happened to the girl that rear ended you? What does the law say about that where you live, was she sued or something?

IMPORTANT!: I also was at the point where there was really no progress to be had for me. Only thing I could decide to do was carry more or less fat. So if you still have progress to be made or that is a goal, I do NOT think fasting is an effective tool.

If you have achieved the strength levels and mass you want, than fasting makes life very easy.

Been doing IF for 3 years and about 8 months ago with the goal of leaning out more, I started bringing in 'hard' fasts where I only eat one meal per day and push out to about a 20-22 hour fast before doing so.

All my fears about my mass going away have proved unfounded. I do supplement luecine and whey + fiber as a last meal of the day to keep protein levels up, but I dont get the 220g/day that I ate for 10 years. Has not proved to be an issue.

But these days my only goals are stay in the 10% range and be 'fit'. If that is where you are, fasting is easy.

Been married 20 years. Yes to a hot wife even by misc standards. I am very lucky, but you are right. My wife does not like the 'muscle thing. She preferers me with some fat on me. For many years I kind looked like a foot ball player. Boxy and stocky. It is only the last 5-7 years I have discovered that I liked being lean. She turns her head if I flex or try to show her look at the veins in my legsNot her thing. Younger girls seem to like it, but I think it is novelity. Most people look at a physique like mine and just assume you are self absorbed.

It is why I hide my physique anytime in business. I have been self employed since my 20's and I know that having a good build can be an obstacle to overcome. I do the best I can to hide it. Actually MUCH easier now that I am leaner since I can hide under normal clothes pretty easily.

Essentially. With a little leg ext and curls thrown in. The big thing is I have thrown all kinds of stim at them. I do partials, I do giant sets, rest pause. I do light and try to go heavy, but not so heavy I will tweek my back. I just 'wing' it.

AGAIN I would NOT recommend this to anyone trying to make progress. I dont think for a minute I could have built the physique I have now doing this. But there is a HUGE difference between building and maintaining.

Maintaining takes MUCH less work and I get away with MUCH more diet leeway and training than I every could at the claw up the mountain it took me to get here.

Nope.... never saw myself as a 'body builder' Always valued strength over anything else. Funny thing, when I decided to lean out, I did not look half bad. Been staying lean about last 5 years and enjoy finally looking like the amount of effort I have put in.

I am not 'pretty' however from an aesthetic perspective. My core and abs are overdeveloped even though I never trained abs directly. Just did all my work below 90 1rm with no belt. It definitely made my midsection 'blocky'. I am cool with it though. No regrets on spending my years grinding strength. It benefits me now since despite what some may think, this is me and where I can stay at 800 test levels. (where I choose to stay since I feel best here).

Just mentality today. Bust on people to make one feel better about their own short comings. Fuk, I am almost 50. There is nothing someone is going to say to me that I have not heard before. Sad thing is too many younger dudes just dont listen. I can remember back in the early 90's when I was in my early 20's. There was a guy about my age that worked out at my gym. He was in fantastic shape and I was amazed by him. He was my parents age, but looked NOTHING like my parents. I used to hope that someday I could be like that. The cool thinig is now I am that dude. COVID sucks since I workout at home now. I miss the gym. I miss other people who are working to improve. I like helping others out. Sharing is so rewarding and helping others along the way is one of the most rewarding things to me.

It's funny....to me, my life is 'normal'. But when we are at activities for my kids or social events, I am smacked in the face that I am the weird one. Consistency is a pretty amazing thing... I am proud of my path and some faceless dude busting my balls for trimming my leg hair (I dont shave anything but my face), I could care less. I know one thing, when he is my age, he will probably be a washed up has been who has not seen the gym in decades except a week before he thinks about going on summer vacation. The odds are NOT in his favor....

Not much. She got a ticket for 100% fault. When I realized the extent of my injuries, I went to an attorney that was recommended. He could not tell me anything until I was done with treatment. It was a year until I reached the end with my ortho. We got to the point where he said, although I could say you are a candidate for spinal fusion, I dont think it will make your life better. All total I had just under 10k in medical bills. The insurance company offered 15k.

My attorney said...we can go to trial, but recognize that you look better than 99% of people your age. You walk in and no one is going to feel sorry for you. You dont have any scars I can show and you, even with your injuries, are more able than most people 1/2 your age. He was not confident we would do well in trial. I got another opinion and got the same advice.

So I authorized him to try to get a higher out of court settlement and just call it a day. 9 months later he got them to settle for 19k. Just under twice med cost. After he took his 1/3 and my medical bills were paid, I made a whopping $2500. And it took almost two years. Long story short... I realized I would never want to be hurt as bad as you need to be to get a payday!

Not being able to train heavy for the last 3 years has taken some toll. But since I am almost 50 it can be aging also. Sarcopenia is a bitch, and eventually it will get us all. I will fight till the end though.

thats fuked up. You would think an injury that is 100% the other persons fault and results in a serious drop of your health and physical function (which means a drop of quality of life) would result in at least a 100k pay.

Yea, you might think so...but it is not the reality of it. Unless you get hit by some big corp vehicle with very deep pockets that jurors dont feel bad about awarding a judgement against, it isnt going to happen. I would be sitting in court against a 25 yo girl. Her insurance is on the hook, but that is not what they tell the jury. My attorney has been doing this 20+ years and very good at litigating. The jury really needs to feel that you are worse off then they are. Not many people going to feel sorry for a guy almost 50 at 10% bodyfat and looks like a bodybuilder.

Nothing 'fair' about the legal system. But life is not fair either. All you can do is quit and feel sorry for yourself, or move on. The only thing I know to do is just move on. Just passing 3 years I am determined to deadlift again. I am starting VERY slow, and it kills my ego to not try anything heavier than 315. But my goals are in no rush. The key to my 'progress' is just to avoid set backs. They are too costly and take too long. So just chipping away....

If you only looked up 2 posts you would see the answer. As well as several other places in the thread. Funny that people will take the time to drop comments, but wont even take the time to actually read the thread they are posting in. What does that say about the guy posting those statements? They really dont care about what is being said...they just like to hate on people because in some way they feel better about their own failures that way.

What is it about your life that you are unhappy about? Maybe concentrate on fixing your own short comings. Despite my injuries, my life is pretty damn great. I have a wonderful family, I am as successful as I desire to be, my wife is smoking hot still after 20 years of marriage (and yes this has been misc confirmed several times), and I have a great circle of friends. Life is good man.....no such thing as a 'bad' day, just some not as great as others....

You know, I have been through a lot in my life. Two people can go though the same thing and have VASTLY different experiences. I tend to look for the good in things. I cant afford to get mired down in pity or hate. My life is great and I have so much to enjoy. This is just another obstacle that I WILL over come.

It forced me out of where I was and I had to adapt. Because of this I have discovered fasting. I would have never tried it before. Now I have the most freedom diet wise I have had in 12 years. I am 10%-ish and eat whatever I want without any cardio. Although I should do cardio, I have not done any in 3+ years.

I think we are all defined in our characters by how we respond to adversity. It is easy to live a life with no challenges. But to be beaten down, and get back up makes a resolve that makes you feel even stronger. Life is good man.... I look forward and dont have time to get mired down....

Looks good. I quit squatting a while ago because of knees and lower back. Honestly, I think Hack Squats are likely better for quad development anyway.

great job OP, so instead of squats you basically did leg press? what did you do for hamstrings? presumably you couldn't deadlift either with your back.

Im not. Par for the course in the misc. But I get it.... truth is, I cant claim (nor would I ever) to be 100% natural. BUT, I dont think by any means my physique was built on PED's either. I am pretty upfront that I believe it has allowed me to be about 8-10lbs heavier at sub 10% levels. Above that, I dont think my level of non-nattie would make much a difference. Of course I have wondered, but it is not worth it for me and my goals to ever try that. I dont want any mass that I cant support at natural hormone levels.

Only sucky thing young(er) guys dont get is just how powerful natural gains are. Or can be if you put the work in. If you want to be at this a long time, you simply cant rely on drugs to keep your physique. I guess you could...but you wont be living long. I would still be natural if I did not figure out I had low t. It was kind of a crushing thing to lean as I was proud of what I accomplished in the gym naturally. Most of the time people still 'called me out' but that was even better. But after my head injury, fatigue and other quality of life issues got so bad I finally started talking to my Dr about it. So I made the commitment and it gave me my life back.

Hack squats hurt my knees too much. I like them, but every time I try them I get pinches in my knees.

The sad truth is very little to nothing. I have a seated leg curl which I would hit about once a month but I didnt love it. I would use different stances and rom on leg press and try to feel hamstring contraction. Like wide stance with heels on plate. It definitely did something, and just goes to prove my point about how easy it is to hang on to progress vs build it.

Regardless, OP has a pretty impressive physique for his age. It's good to see prime aged males staying in top shape
And why does it matter? I can think of many diff options than just “gay”, but still the same, shouldn’t matter to you.

I still have not cleaned the rubber off the lotus from the track day but it would be fun to roll out in that with the top off. But I have not driven my huracan in almost 2 weeks so I think that is going to win out! Get that Z06 down here and we can grab lunch and a beer after!

Having been around the gym for many years, I dont think trimming body hair is a ghey thing. Yea....I am the furthest thing from gay (not that it matters). Lots of guys who are fit trim hair. I dont shave, just whack it with the trimmers. Not that there is anything wrong with shaving. I am just not that metro and it would take too long. My legs dont have a ton of hair, but I have chest and as I am hitting 50 I have back hair too. Hey I am Italian...what does one expect?

bro you look great but please dont claim natty fr no one is that dumb. literally the whole internet knows what it looks like to be enhanced and especially if you have legs that size and you dont even train them.

Again your reading comprehension is not quite up to par. I was very clear and totally up front about everything. But you are kinda off. I would say my legs were bigger when I was still lifetime natty. But that was 7 years ago. So a lot of factors at play. I kept mostly to the >35 sect in my time at bb.com, the joke is how many pics I have taken over the years. My progress, both still while I was natural and then after has all been well documented on here if you care to look. I dont feel the need to justify myself to you or anyone. You can call bs, but understand there are LOTs of people even bigger and stronger than myself that are totally natural. Just because you cant do it, does not mean it is not possible. I still have the zipper stretch marks that I got between 18 and 20 gaining almost 50 lbs naturally the first time I touched a weight.

I have come to understand that I am blessed and I accept that. Does not mean that I have not worked my balls off over the years either, but I dont deny that I am pretty far to one end of the curve when it comes to training response. Nature is a bell curve my friend. I am just me. There are guys out there that make me look pathetically weak and tiny. I am cool with that. I am me. I actually was stronger as a lifetime nattie (wilks). At 190 lbs my first year back lifetime nattie in the gym I could bench 225 for 29 reps. I cant do that now and I am 10 lbs heavier.

But you are the typical. Those who always use the excuse that anyone that they think is bigger than them must be 'on'. Sorry my friend, you are not always right. Those that know me, know me. You are free to believe whatever you like, but trust me....I have enough pictures and have posted more progress shots over the years than most on here. There is no hiding anything....

my bad I hadn't read the thread entirely, looks like you aren't claiming. good for you for being honest. I'm not the typical "if so and so is bigger than me". I can literally CLEARLY see the evidence of bicycle riding. you can tell by how peoples delts, traps, calves, skin, veins, etc all look. it looks unnatural to the human eye, like a tranny. you just know something is up.

I know what you are saying. If you look at my development, I dont have overdeveloped traps or delts. I have a really big back and traps. 15+ years of heavy training naturally will do that.

Now before you go crazy, first remember there are 7 years difference in these pics. So 7 years of 'progress'. The upper pic is me still lifetime natural and 3 years back training in the gym after a decade off. I was about 197 in the pic.

The lower pic was last year. I was 203 in the pic. So 7 years and not all that much difference. BUT a difference none the less.

I have done more than TRT , but what I have done the few time is less than what most people would call a beginner bike ride. I could never tell any difference on or off, but I think cumulatively being able to keep my levels up, ESPECIALLY when dieting hard, has allowed me to surpass my natural limit. But I still have 18+ " arms at 5'9 naturally long before any of that.

I have wondered what it would be if I decided to really go there, but it was never worth it for me. I spent too much time in the grind. I could never handle getting weaker or smaller from coming off something. I would just rather not go there. I am happy being me. If I did not have actual medical issues related to my head injury, I would likely still be lifetime natty and happy. But 1/2 this board would say I am lying...so what would that matter. I have to wonder what I could have done though. I did feel a loss handing in my nattie card. But I just try to be honest with people. But many still doubt. I know it is a losing battle.

Nattie top, and 7 years later bottom.

First good year of progress in the gym after losing a bunch of weight first. Still natural (actually had low t and did not know at time)

IMPORTANT!: I also was at the point where there was really no progress to be had for me. Only thing I could decide to do Iwas carry more or less fat.

Thanks for the reply. You say you're enhanced, how much do you figure that aides in the fasting success and muscle retention? Like you, I am afraid of sabotaging what I've got trying to improve, but having Lowe protein intake, not feeding what I'm believing to be efficiently, etc.

What was the timing of your workouts and 1x daily meal? Did you top off at all with a protein shake throughout the day or post workout, aside from the evening protein/fiber mentioned?
Lifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

My test levels are generally around 800. So I dont think fasting is hurting anything and I am not on anything besides TRT so that is well under 'super-physiological' levels of what some would call enhanced.

However I do believe that is helps some when cutting into the single digits with retention regardless of diet. Like I shared....That was the biggest difference and where I think I have benefited the most from turning in my nattie card. I have never taken levels required to 'notice' anything, but what I can tell is cumulative. When I was still lifetime nattie, after I would dip below 10% I would just start shedding almost as much muscle as fat it seemed. It was no big deal because it would come right back when I brought food in, but my body did not like to get super lean. Now, as long as I can keep the food out of my mouth (which is actually hard), I can be as lean as I want without suffering too much muscle loss.

I cant speak to the benefits of running massive amounts...etc. I have just never done it. As I mentioned. I have always been a slow and steady guy. I dont think mentally I could every handle gaining strength or mass, then only to lose it if I came off something. I used to compete against guys who would do it all the time. I would have 30 lbs on their bench and by the time the meet came around they would beat me by 20lbs, and then three months later, I was 30lbs stronger then them again. My strength was constant. Theirs varied with what they wanted to run. I am just not wired to deal with that, but it does exist.
