With something like this I can pick and choose the time I want to work and the amount of money I want to earn (usually the bare minimum I need to just relax)

I sometimes feel like people don’t realize how chill it is and look down on it. Sometimes I’ll be driving with a pizza or something and I keep saying the words “roads closed pizza boy” and feel embarrassed for a bit but at the same time it’s actually a luxurious way to make money since it’s so casual and impersonal with no boss and no rules and no set schedule.

Like I would be the one looking down on people who have to be somewheee and dress a certain way at a certain time every day like clockwork, like a slave.

But with me I’m free to choose IF, when, and how long I work, and I’m like a free agent with no boss.

I don't think that people 'look down on it', i just think that people of a higher intelligence would get really bored doing that sort of work, so they work stuff that occupies the mind.

True though, as long as you're happy, that's all that matters - either way, that's an interesting way of framing it.

I know that for me personally, i used work as an escape mechanism, but since then, i've become happy with who I am, and when i am truly happy and at peace, i'd be happy to do any sort of job.

I kinda like to drive. It gives me time to just think to myself and talk to myself.

I have depression issues and anger issues so I can’t usually keep a traditional job for long due to mood and energy imbalances/inconsistency. So this is something thankfully I found that I can do without much anxiety.

But beyond that it’s not too bad to have your car be your office. I have full streaming access to YouTube, music, and sometimes I even watch like an F1 practice as I’m driving around. I love driving and having driving going on.

I mean it’s a lot of the stuff I would do at home I can do in the car. Even if I was at home gaming, heck one of the games I might be playing probably would involve fetch quests with GPS telling me to go somewhere to get something and deliver it to someone so in a way the job is like a game.

Imagine being at a job and then stopping for 3 hours, going home, eating relaxing going back for an hour and then going home and making like full time pay. That would be considered a really valuable setup. But for some reason people don’t see this job as crazy easy as it is.

My car is an 06 Nissan Sentra so I almost have that nostalgic Initial D vibe going where it’s a really light balanced nimble Japanese car and I’m trying to balance the food while driving as efficiently as possible.

Cars of today are really heavy and not as nimble as in the past due to safety standard so the older car has that old style lightness that’s easy to drive with a lot of agility. I’m always hitting every apex too.

I would say about 5-7$ for every 100$ goes to gas.

Most places are all within a sphere of nice restaurants I have here in a nice part of AZ. So the jobs are all short trips one after the other to usually restaurants. I decline any fast food places to avoid delivering to apartments (which slow you down and lower efficiency) so I can taylor the whole process around my zone and price preferences. If I drive farther it’s usually more money so gas always pays for itself tenfold.

As for taxes it’s just a normal W2 they email you and they give you monthly financial summaries.

You have to be good looking to get tipped. I never tip ugly people. I delivered pizza when I first got my license and made good tips because my body was still very smooth with only peach fuzz.

When I first moved to Austin I bought a big ass TV that was too heavy for me to lift up on the stand that I had purchased for it to sit on, and I didn't know a soul there, so I ordered a small pizza in hopes that the delivery dude would help me lift it on there.

It seems like to some it has a weird stigma especially since that one famous incident with those girls and the uber delivery guy and it seems like this ghetto thing but it doesn't have to be; particularly in nice yet mediumly busy areasTheres some weird quirks. Ubereats recently swallowed Postmates and when you first sign up they give you like a ton of crazy high tip customers to get you hooked. Like 60+ an hour. But then settles down to like 20-30 per hour but is most popular and inconsistent variety. GrubHub is consistently like 30$ per hour and is most consistent but out of the three has a waiting list to get on in some markets. Thats the best one though in my area and the cleanest runs with no apartments. The key is to get restaurant -> houses deliveries with short drives and high tips. And Door Dash is also about 30 per hour but you have to sometimes do complex deliveries like going to a grocery store so it can be too much but can be lucrative in a more involved way (which I forego altogether)No not really. Its pretty lax if you are late but I just do a good job to maybe get some sort of safety and consistency in the algorithm if there is one. Nobody really knows. the Reddits for each one describe all types of patterns like including the said "starter hook" money when you get really good jobs at the start out the gate. and theres also a test to see if you take low paying jobs and you are meant to decline those to not get sent as many etc and all types of ways to semi game the system to your preference.

If you are reasonably late its not very strict its all AI practically lol. You will still get paid and usually the tips are predetermined.

No rude customers but sometimes you have to take a huge efficiency loss when a restaurant doesn't have their crap together and you have to wait. The algorithm usually sends you to a place around the same time the item is ready but sometimes they are still working on it and you have to wait a few min. Usually if its more than a few min though you can just say its taking too long and legit leave and go on to the next one. Theres a button that lets you rate them too and thumbs down and places for taking too long and you can just dip out lol (which I always do) because technically they're supposed to have it ready and you have the option to pass it on if its not ready. But most of the time that doesn't happen honestly. Get lots of consistent quality timing almost always. Especially with restaurants that have their chit together.

And no I never had any scenario with a potential encounter but I thought about it. I feel like the potential is there though like theoretically. You can be really gangster about it and just skip all the fast food or low quality deliveries, you wont get kicked off the system. Its all just controlled by AI its not like someone is up there watching over you judging the deliveries you take or don't take.

Before you even accept the order you can see the name of restaurant and pickup location, the delivery location, the estimated time allotted for the whole thing, and the amount of money you will get for the whole thing. You can accept or deny any delivery nobody will do anything to you if you deny on grounds of name of place, or price, or even location being too far. So you can pick and choose. The apps are like an open market where the buyer can only buy what is available on the market. If you ever try to buy from one you can see its a very limited scope of what you can get. there has to be a person in the area active, they have to be willing to do it for that location and for the price and if there isn't, the person just cant get that food. Its not like a service that guarantees or can force a delivery. If no driver wants to do it they don't eat. Period. They will just not have the option or it will get canceled. Its not like we are employees that HAVE to do something.

Its either YES or NO, that simple, thats the beauty of it.

If theres a long line the most I lost is the time it took to get there because I will just push the thumbs down button and say the wait is too long and cancel the delivery straight up. Overall a very rare inefficiency too, though it can happen. Not a big deal in the big picture. Would never accept an In N out delivery. I will do chick fil a though because they are super efficient and always on time and have their fuking chit together (*Gordon Ramsey voice)

Nevermind the wear and tear on your car... considering that we're in the middle of a chip shortage with record prices for new and used cars, if you're car konks out, you won't be able to do deliveries anymore and you also can't get to a regular job on time.

The UberEats people I spoke to all told me the same story: at first they were getting paid relatively decent rates for a mindless job, but after a while UberEats/Grubhub/DoorDash etc started scaling down the pay because they knew these drivers have no other options.

It's a scam boyo, don't get suckered into it like all the other youngins' I see doing it.

yeah I try to keep my PSI pretty high for max efficiency. My car like I said is very light. Especially if you only fuel up like half the tank at a time instead of all the way full. Give a lighter load. Took my spare tire out etc...

Haven't had a really bad experience, the worst thing was probably just a few of the times I had to wait like 10 minutes for some order that was enough money to wait for but its not that big of a deal. If anything I can call or text the customer directly encrypted or if not then just quick to cancel anything thats out of the ordinary.

Its also widely varies by areas. People in bad areas will have a vastly less chill experience than I do.

Im saying I kinda calibrated into a nice lil niche I figured out. I live in a semi off grid but busy upper class hub of an area with straight wide streets, low traffic, and quality upper scale customers from upper class restaurants; and its also not so busy that theres lots of drivers here competing --they would be in more busy parts of Phoenix like down south and south east.

Im just all alone up here getting the cream of the crop deliveries ONLY and making it work. Later after traffic is dead the streets are wide and clear and I just cruise very chilled out. very easy. Not a scam at all to me boyero.
