Why do guys wear yoga pants at the gym?

And how did it start?

Was it started by the NBA players and is there some useful benefit like hiding skinny legs under shorts? Or is it part of the feminization and pussification of man?

When I was going to a gym instead of working out at home, only one weird obese guy was always wearing yoga pants. He also dressed up in an army outfit too, along with an army backpack he would walk around wearing. I was told he was a University professor. I figured who told me that was joking around, but then again a few professors I met over the years were a bit out there.
