Been a while. Working 70 hours a week for 5-6 months of the year with 3.5 days off a month, so not much time for the forum. In a slower period now though so might drop a few posts. Not sure the money is even worth the energy expenditure to be honest, it's not that great - I think I'll collect the experience and a bit of paper work and look to move on.
Especially considering I'm about to join the father club (something I never thought I'd do). Partner is 8 weeks pregnant. Not sure how I'm going to manage it, but I feel obligated to marry her ASAP so that at the very least I can pass on the necessity of marriage and nuclear family by having us share a surname on the child's birth certificate - something I wasn't afforded as a child of the bastard 80s culture.
I hope all of you are doing well.

scary eh? all the "can I take care of this" anxiety kicking in? Is the nest good enough fear?
You into her at least some?
One thing you can count on now- a fountain of unsolicited advice
lol. But here I go anyway.....Gachase overdone unsolicited kid marriage stuff:
Don't gotta overcomplicate it.
Coming from a guy married 20+ years that signed a certificate in a courthouse while preggo wife standing next to me, and never said vows.....
oddly one of the very few I know who also never broke vows- (that were never said)- not that it didn't come close a few times...
Did plan a wedding- stuff fell apart (think I told that story before)- but in the end, it doesn't matter- It's a thing with you, her, and the kid(s).
Don't let the marriage naysayers get you too worked up. It can be a , bish- but you own it.
Remember to stay in your role- if you stay in your role, she will naturally fall into hers- It's human nature no matter how feminist she might think she is- or whatever shortcoming she has.
If you go out of your role, she will go out of hers. Dudes get pissy about their wives not holding up, having issues, etc- but It's the guy's fault- If he takes care of himself, and stays the dominant household leader- she won't slip. It's your job to keep her in check.
When my situation very started getting tense, it was always only because I let something about myself get out or wack.
only get upset with yourself if it's going south, not her- the good news isyouhave control of making chit happen or not- that means you have nothing to worry about because you can do it.
old post regeritaterd......
Can’t direct quote all due to some locked threads
Mainly make sure you so stay in your role.
Don't become that feminized husband.
Also when she gets pregnant "especially postpartum" you do have to be very very very patient. They go wacko then you just have to understand how the brain works.
Great amounts of lingering long-term animosity are created from one side or the other in this phase.
Being the male you have to understand and maintain the stability.
You still need to be making the major decisions at that point.
IMO that is what prompts many penny jar episodes, not the kids themselves.
During normal nonpregnant times stay decisive.
The questions of "what do you want to do?" Or "where do you want to go" getting passed back and forth create too much-unneeded dilemma
I.e. Where do you want to eat? What you do is say we are going here to eat.
Say it's a formal place- she will then respond with her supportive role and get the proper attire ready the kids dressed up in the right clothes for the occasion, etc., etc.
It's a picnic- she will make the basket, get the right clothes, insect repellent, etc etc.
Women dig filling that role.
That and many other decisions, if you keep just leaving it in her court thinking you're making her happy, it will just slightly pissed her off, and your natural partner rolls will be compromised.
Give her space to become a woman when you prompt for action.
It might be cute and all in the early phases to just pop in and surprise her or grab her/grope her while she's getting ready. Later leave her alone until she is ready.
Women need to feel like women. My grandmother used to tell me she thought the main reason divorce happens today is men entering the birthing room when women having babies lol. "i still did that"
Occasionally though you do have to surprise her- I.e come home from work, grab her/lift her pin her to the wall and drill.
They have to be completely dominated in bed on a regular basis- at a very minimum once a week.
Don't get lazy with sex- often a trait of some males after they feel they secured the girl.
If you find yourself becoming the "minuteman" we need to actively work on practicing fixing it.
You also have to take the physical dominating lead.
It's OK to have that soft sensual stuff every once in a while I guess, but don't make it a habit.

Lol, on that note I will also say this.
You have to remember to show appreciation when she fills her role.
Thank her for something she did with the kids, tell her how good her food is "even compromise your diet if needed to display appreciation", etc.
And don't interfere with her roll trying to fill it. If she puts certain clothes on kids that's her role don't try to change it.
If she organizes or decorated the house a certain way that's her role don't override it.
Stay in your role and leave her room to stay in hers.
Appreciation has great value. Don't confuse that with unwarranted attention.

helping keep marriage intact...
People fill their roles in the marriage. When people stray away from their roles, it seems to start the problems IMO
In our marriage, my wife is a stay-at-home mom. She stopped working once we had kids. She fills the role and the result is excellent kids excelling in school and behavior so far. She helps take care of me, where I can continue to provide for the family.
She has to feel a sense of success and accomplishment in this role. That is measured on how well she has helped build up the family. Her success is measured by the behavior and development of the kids. It is measured by my accomplishment and her support of me helping me stay focused and achieve these accomplishments.
It is my role in that to make sure she constantly realizes a sense of accomplishment with reminders of her success in her role.
My role is to provide, protect, and lead the family. I see men stray away from the leadership role becoming very "effeminate" over time and not decisive and leading. Part of the leadership is helping make sure each member of the family is appreciated for their role.
This works by putting yourself in position by building a strong finical base, career position before marriage, and finding someone with like-minded beliefs on the family roles. fiscal responsibility, and similar philosophies to life.

In a long term monogamous relationship yes you have an advantage regarding resources for your genetic offspring, in addition:
- you have reduced anxiety by always knowing there is someone there for you.
-You reduce the chances of spreading viruses or other sexually transmitted ailments into your family.
-you have each other to care for when one is sick, injured, incapacitated, or going through a traumatic experience.
-You reduce the risk of unneeded psychological torment "jealousy. rage, uncontrolled behavior, etc" that can threaten your family by having additional parties involved beyond you, your mate, and your genetic offspring.
-In a healthy functioning monogamous relationship with the family, where each is adequately filling their roles and not trying to cross role, you greatly increase the odds of an environment cultivating your kids to a more superior position in life, as well as you and your family.
-You have increased security and reduced stress with extended known trust amongst each other.
-etc eta etc
The benefits of a monogamous long-term relationship creating a nuclear family are better for you and all of society.
-Conducting behavior that could compromise that relationship, as well as not adequately fulfilling the role you need "or just flat out being emotionally lazy" is simply bad for you, your family, and all of society
It's like you have a list of boxes in life you need to check, once you find your mate and establish that is where you can check that box and begin to build your family, something makes life better and easier as well as more fulfilling.
You never have to worry or have anxiety about checking that box again.
No more worries about cold approaches, tinder sloots, late-night bar money, dui, diseases, randoms getting prego ruining your life, etc
Epic Disney Trips with kids.
Continual regular great sex if you know what you are doing.
The concept of polyamory would be a living hell.
I had to doctor this up just a bit from the original, as I get "access denied" now, I use quotation marks where parentheses were, etc.- you have reduced anxiety by always knowing there is someone there for you.

It's interesting reading those myself again- as that was the me about 7ish years ago. Not much would change from that- but I would have an updated version for this older phase of my life as far as interactions with my wife- and much more details in character-developing kids.
I might have to type that out at some point.
Other consideration now...
If you haven't, go ahead and snag a 30-year term life insurance policy from a company rated at least A+ or better on AM best
This will give you room to assume you may have another kid or 2- and can still carry the term long enough to get the youngest through school.
Sometimes you can find 25-year ones.
You can stack on another 20 year as you are ready to have your last kid.
Get healthy, and dn't wait too late.
Keep yourself in check is the biggest thing- Mind, body, and spirit.
You own every bit of this working out.

So after she went through all that from a "safe and effective" vaccine you are still going to get your booster shot and you want to have kids forced to take it as well?

Me too.
The worst is when you spend minutes on end typing up a thoughtful and lengthy post, only to get that error message and have to start all over again. That really rustles my jimmies.

I have to drive from Michigan to Austin tomorrow/monday because I'm now on the no fly list for 10 days because a delta rep misundefstood our conversation.
I wanted to change my wife & son to travel for two weeks later because Austin's got a lot of covid cases. She took that as I had covid and put me on a medical no fly list.
So I'm renting a car and hopefully making it to memecops house tomorrow night. Then Austin on Monday.
I am jealous of you now.

Wife has blood clots in both legs from hip to ankles.
Talked docs into doing home care since hospitals are understaffed and infested.
Instruction call for he laying in bed all the time- no problem….

Did they give her some medicine to break up the clots? I hope it goes well and quickly.

I'm also apparently going through klonopin withdrawal right now. My doctor retired and I haven't had a panic attack in a few years so I just stopped. 10 days later I almost went to the hospital (friday) and I did a teledoc visit instead. They told me I was going through withdrawal which I never thought of, I'm not a drug abuser. Anywho, the past few a days have been very rough; luckily I have ***** from 2018 to help with the withdrawal until I can see a doctor this week to correctly taper my dosage.
I thought I had carbon monoxide poisoning, covid, panic attack, heart attack, cancer...never would have guessed klonopin withdrawal. Friday night I spent like $400 on air quality testers and have been sleeping with the windows open because I thought it was something in the air.

Holy ****, son. Depending on how high the dose is, and the duration of time you've used, you can break out in seizures.
That drug class is the most addictive, toxic and dangerous of them all.
I did a rapid taper off ***** close to 10 years ago. Tapered from 3 mgs to nothing in like 2 months. My life was hell for about a year afterwards, but was determined to come off after researching how dangerous that class of drugs is.

15 years since last time I think.
Had to be on a at home heparin pump once.
She has a Lupus like autoimmune thing -this time her body started attacking her blood.
I’m going to try to convince her to learn to juggle knives on her down time, while on 1st heavy round of thinners

If under control it can just be very painful for an extended period and immobilize you. - normally it’s just in one leg- not both.
He body likes to fight itself though- so I guess gets rough with itself. Basically it decides to start fighting one of the blood proteins.
Note for the soon to be newlyweds:
have to think of a way to make her feel like she’s still adding value to the family in bed - one wife care note- you always gotta make sure they are feeling some role.
So lll set her up a station to help my Daugher study, make online study flash cards, and maybe fill out my expense report.
And with doctors guidance of wien- make sure she doesn’t get stuck in a rut, and get her off her a$$ to fill more roles ASAP when she can- even if some tough love.
When that happens I will make sure and go awhile no takeout- so she’s at lest cooking filling that role.
No corporal punishment after blood clots though

As far as your ordeal Metroins - I couldn’t relate at all. Never taken any kind of benzos in my life.
Never done allot of things- MJ, coke , never even smoked a cig once.
Did take plenty of pain meds in my ordeals- but did everything I could for alternate solution to not take them anymore -hence neurostimulator
I did take the f out of caffeine though

Got my first shot 2 weeks ago against my own wishes. The second one is booked for early October. Zero side effects but my shoulder was ridiculously sore for like 4 days... was similar to how it felt when I tore my rotator cuff many years ago. Although, that was my push day and I had worked out before getting the shot. I wonder if that affected it somewhat?
Despite being vaccinated and having COVID antibodies from the real virus, I couldn't go visit my aunt who was dying in the hospital. I went there in person and asked if I could see her even if I brought in a negative COVID test, but they still wouldn't allow me to see her and she passed later that night. She had plenty of life left in her but when the pandemic started, they halted all chemotherapy for many months, which had kept her cancer at bay for a long time, but by the time things eased up, it had progressed too much. She treated me more like a mother than my own did and I couldn't say farewell to her.

Where I go, they just shuffled the schedules around to reduce crowding in the center and made us wear masks and distance. No problemo.
