Misc computer techies and experts. Offering 31k reps if you can help me out

So I normally log into my bank account (rbc canada) on my laptop but it stopped working last night. Says something along the lines of access denied and gives me an error code specific to the website. Tried it on my wifes laptop same thing. Works fine on my cell phone if I use data intstead of wifi.

I called their helpline and they said I am most likely using a vpn which I told them I'm not and their only other solution was to unplug and reset my router which still did phuck all.

My avast antivirus says the website is a blacklisted url. i added it to the "exceptions category on there and still didnt work

tried in safemode with networking no avail

not sure how else to solve this

running windows 7 home

Can you log into other sites?
Could be a dns isp problem if it's both laptops

It's either isp or site

If it's fine on phone using data then it's most def your wifi isp

Thoughts in my head:

1) If you're getting access denied from being able to turn off AV from task manager, it's likely due to the fact that you're not on an Administrator account. So maybe try that.

2) If your bank's website is blocked by AV, it's likely for a reason. The URL you're using could be a phish/fraud website. In which case I advise resetting your password whenever you can get to the true website. Make sure you go to the real true website typed correctly and manually, even one letter difference could lead to a phishing website.

3) It's possible the bank's website hosts advertisements that are triggering your AV or something too.

What bank do you have? their customer support should help you if you're having an issue with their site

edit- i see you said rbc canada. it's a security risk if your account is compromised, so they should be willing to help you get it to work

Oh your IP is flagged as a VPN most likely then hence why it works on cellular data but not your home wifi.

Sometimes internet service providers rotate your IP address, and maybe the previous person who held your current IP was operating as a VPN. Some VPN providers pay people to use their residential IPs, so they can sell the IP to people who wanna watch netflix from a different country etc. to evade the VPN blocks

so I would call your internet provider and tell them to assign you a new IP address dude

What are the error codes that you get? First guess would be a network issue since your phone can get there as soon as it jumps off your home network. Like the user above stated, you should try turning off your antivirus and then access the site. Are you using a “favorites” bookmark or link?

Also, pls upgrade from windows 7.
