Anyone have experience with phone interviews?

I have a phone interview on Thursday for a job that sounds good so far. Someone woman in the recruiting office in Ottawa will be interviewing me, so 3 or 4 hour time difference. 30 minute call.

Anything I should brush up on? I'm good with in-person interviews but I get the feeling there might be different protocol for phone interviews, this being my first one since covid. Anyone notice any differences?

Sounds like just a screening. Unless you’re retarded there’s nothing really wrong you can say, the recruiter won’t have any technical knowledge.

She’ll pass it on to the hiring manager & they’ll decide if they wanna go ahead and properly interview you.

I think phone interviews are generally used to qualify - basic requirements

Just review your resume and be able to walk through it, try not to highlight duties if you can but instead results (they most likely know wtf the job entails so it's redundant) ... but usually phone interviews are screening so maybe just walk through your actual job descriptions and save former for the interview with the hiring manager

And also be prepared to answer why you want to work at said company

That's what I was thinking, but I'm not sure if in covid days if they try to eliminate in-person interviews and have everything over the phone, when it gets to the on-site manager. Sounds retarded as fug, but so is covid and all..

This. Did a ton of phone screens during Rona and it always helped.

30 min call, they're just going to ask you a couple questions about your resume/experience and when you might be free for a sit-down later. You really can't fuk it up.

Best part about remote interviews is that you can read a prepared script. Write out answers for questions that they may ask, like "tell me about yourself", why our company, why we should hire you, etc. Also, courtesy is key. Always ask how they are and answer "I'm great, thank you".

I'm employed but have had dozens of interviews during the pandemic-all remote.It's definitely weird at first but after you do a few you realize how similar they are.
