Nintendo is out here raping their customers

Let it be known I grew up with NES and SNES and loved the brand. Although I have had zero interest in Nintendo offerings as an adult I recognize they make great games that appeal to many.

BUT, I can not comprehend how they will release old games again and again, or give subscription based access to these old games now with no upgrade and just continually charge their customers again and again to use the same software on new devices. There have to be people who have purchased the same damn game 3-5 times just to play it on different devices, lol. And now I see these old ass controllers are going to sell for $50 and Nintendocels will be rushing to buy them I bet. jlmfao. Well played Nintendo, you got a hell of a business model going.

I get what your saying but if I am honest I am very tempted to pick up a switch so I can play those N64 games again and given the amount of remakes or remasters we see these days it’s hardly a shock.

I mean it’ll probably only cost like £20 for a year so hardly big bux

This wasn’t even the highlight of the Nintendo direct. It was cool af though, don’t need the controllers but I’ll buy one of the n64 ones. You get what you paid for. The + content in n64 and sega genesis look to be worth every Penny. What more would you want? You think they shouldn’t add n64 or sega games at all or just not the controller?

Thank you Nintendo for ****ing your fans in the ass while having the courtesy to give them a reach around. If you want to be a child about it!!

Meanwhile people are bitching when Sony charges a $10 upgrade fee for games that have actually been upgraded significantly and have had new content added.

Every time Nintendo releases a new console, I tell myself I will not buy it, then I do and pretty much never use it. Besides the Wii, that thing was fire.

I literally bought a Switch just for Metroid 4 then it got delayed. So in owning the console for two years I have played Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey on it, that's it.

Most games on the Switch have also been available on PC for a while, so why would I buy it on Switch with it's 30 fps PS3 level graphics when I can play on it on PC at 1440p 240hz maxed out.

Nevermind the fact that Nintendo refuses to discount their ****. Breath of the wild is four years old, is still 60$ on the Nintendo store. what the **** man.

It's a low end system that has a lot of age appropriate titles for my kids. Really the only reason we have one.

Nintendo is the only company that gets praised HEAVILY for doing the absolute bare minimum. Sony gets chit for charging upgrade fees or how difficult it is to install their storage options. Microsoft gets chit from the masses because they make another Halo or another Gears, and that they are focusing too much on backcompat.

Nintendo is out here releasing Mario 64 again (despite them just releasing a better version of the game on their Mario All-Stars game) and having the audacity to charge you for it. The games are emulated horribly, run horribly, and are just pandering to this crowd that swears on their lives Nintendo can do no wrong.

They could have just done what they did with the NES and SNES libraries and opened it up on the Nintendo store and it would have been a move worth mentioning. Paying extra for their already awful online service based in a phone app is absolutely laughable and it's GETTING PRAISED by people for a shoddy what? 30 games between two systems? Just lol.

At least Xbox gives you versions of old games that run at 1080/60 reliably, without artifacting.

Besides when I was behind due to credit card debt Which is my fault now Nintendo’s or Sony’s, I don’t think I ever complained much about money when it comes to prices on top notch gaming services or games in general.

I’d love if Nintendo made a $700-$1k console to appease the hardware/specs snobs/fanatics, I’d love seeing and playing Mario at the best settings the world has to offer... but they don’t need to to be profitable. It’s like they have no incentive to change what they’re doing. Or to innovate again.

It’s not my main console but you can’t buy Mario zelda dk Metroid or smash on Xbox or Ps5 therefore the switch is still needed for their exclusives.

i wouldn't mind paying a small subscription fee to get access to all the old N64 games, even if nothing about it has changed. the Nintendo membership is only $20 a year, how much more expensive would it be with the expanded library? It's worth it in that sense IMO but I kind of agree it seems like some cheap way to make money with zero effort lol, can't hate them for that.

$50 bucks for the old controllers is phucking outrageous though lmao.

Nintendo is basically the apple of the video gaming world, they can package turd in a box and their fans will eat it up claiming they make the greatest games on earth. Not that there's anything wrong with it, Apple is still great, and so nintendo, but they will always get a pass.

Meanwhile Microsofts allowing backwards compatibility all the way to the xbox for free, while adding 4k upscale and 60 fps boosts to it.
Sony releases the best exclusives in gaming, but will then get lambasted for their games being "samey" when nintendo does the same thing but even worse lol.

It sounds great, but unless you have a ton of free time it’s not really practical. My in-laws gave me their OG N64 with all the classics and I was ecstatic, but two years later I haven’t even taken it out of the box.

LMAO @ them releasing on like 7 n64 titles and then selling a chitty controller that is prob the worst controller of all time for $49.99 so you can play the 7 titles

the only good games on the list WORTh playing in 2021 and that aged well are of course super mario 64, OoT, SF64, and tennis. The other games are chit-tier games LMAO
No perfect dark?
No goldeneye?
no banjo?
no majoras mask?
conker's bad fur day?

they didn't even remaster the games, it's still the same chit-tier n64 graphics that will look terrible on your 1080p/4k tv

meanwhile i can get on my pc and download any n64 game I want within 5 minutes and use the goat dualshock4 or xbox one controller to play them at 1080P LMAO

Also Nintendo has always had PlayStation beat when it comes to the exclusives. That much is true.

Agree with the controller cost, but I think that will be more of a niche thing.

The online is super cheap and I don’t expect it to become pricy with the addition of n64 games. So i don’t think it’s that bad.

And I know their online isn’t the best, but I honestly haven’t had any issues with it. Getting on to play Mario kart or something has been easy and works fine for me

Nintendo absolutely does make some of the best games in the business. Even game developers at other companies have said how good they are at their craft.

Swolefnatic, I’m on mobile so quoting is a pain. You do realize you don’t need the controller to play the games? And if you watched the trailer, they showed other games such as MM and Banjo. These 6 are just an initial launch group. Same thing they did with the nes and snes games

Nintendo has tapped into the nostalgia market better than anyone in history, and we as consumers eat it up. They know exactly what they're doing by playing on our childhood memories with these NES/SNES/N64 libraries, and then releasing an N64 controller that immediately brings back those feelings of busting GoldenEye with the boys back in 1998.

This level of nostalgia doesn't exist with other companies, even though I loved the PS1, the kind of nostalgia for it doesn't even come remotely close to the feelings of the SNES or the N64 for me. Even early PC games, like early WoW or playing Counter Strike as a Half-Life mod back in the day, not the same as Nintendo nostalgia.

They have that market and they will exploit the chit out of it.

Last I even touched a Nintendo system was N64.

If Nintendo released an actual gaming machine with the power of Playstation 5 or XSX I'd buy it. Instead they keep releasing gimmicky low powered consoles like Wii and Switch.

I see where you're coming from, nobody ever calls out Nintendo. Somehow they're the "darling" of the gaming industry without good reason.

The switch was just good business sense and allowed them to combine their handheld and home console divisions. Which is also more consumer friendly, as I only need one system to play their entire library. I play 99.9% docked, but there are a lot of people who play more handheld like Japan. It’s the best thing they could have done, it only turns off the very small group of people who are spec obsessed.

I see Nintendo called out often. Did everyone forget the Wii U generation? NintenDOOMED ever since the GameCube days?

You don’t have to do anything. If one does decide to pay more, it’s because they are receiving more in turn. I don’t mind paying something like a dollar more a month for them. That is literally nothing to me.

My point in bringing up nes and snes is that there will be a rollout over time. It was purely in response to him saying “where is X game”.
