More car porn (vid and pics)

Beautiful day today. My buddy got his new Plaid in and wanted to make a little run. (He also owns a GT2, a Performante, and a 765LT), but he was so excited to drive the Plaid.

So we made a run out to the airport, and then had a great lunch. Great group of guys. My buddy took every opportunity to make rolling runs in his new plaidThat thing just is freaky fast. Your brain does not want to process it. Reminds me of old chase scenes in movies where they would speed up the film.

Yes. I was skeptical of the Urus. Lambo dealer gave me one to drive for a few days. I definitely came away with the feeling that it was so much more than a rebadged audi. Just nothing like it. Pretty amazing car.

A couple of the guys have BMW's as dailys. Not a bad car at all, but not a tremendously fun car either. Very nice for what it is for sure. Great daily for sure!

Yea. I dont get the negative stuff...but its no big deal. The fact is it is fun and cool. I dont expect nor do I want any admiration from this. I just like cars and like sharing them with others who like cars. I have become very good friends with many of these guys and they are some really cool people. I am 48 and I am humbled to meet some of them. The one commonality of the group, is no one gives a crap about 'flexing'. Everyone is comfortable with who they are. Some guys have one car, some have 10. Some guys struggle to buy their dream car, and the other extreme is one guy is a billionaire with his own island in Turks and Caicos. No one cares. Just a bunch of buddies going on drives and hanging out enjoying a great day.


On the car front, I just bought another lotus last week. Should be here in about a week. Its a wide-body lotus elise. Going to go over the top on my track build with it. I will probably sell my orange lotus and just have fun with this one. I have the supercharger I bought for my other one, so it will go on this car now. Just want to make sure it ready to go to VIR. Been practicing. The crazy part is I practiced for a few hours and within 10 minutes my son beat my best time by 5 seconds! I am hoping I can pull him out of school to make the VIR trip.

I dont need validation at all. I am pretty happy with who I am. I just like sharing fun stuff with people. If you dont like it, it does not mean I am an a$$hole, or others that do are. Just get over yourself.

Another neat thing about the guys in the group is that pretty much everyone is a positive person. There is zero negativity, no drama. Lots of people who have been through all kinds of things in life, and they always see the positive. They dont feel the need to tear down others to make themselves feel better.

It is like a recharge for the soul to be lucky enough to meet and have friends like this.

It is quite hard to understand your run-on's with random SHOUTING all over the place. The point is that you are missing, is I will be happy for you if you find what you want in life. This is not a competition, and I am not expecting a bunch of guys to compliment me. I am just sharing cool car stuff in hopes others enjoy it. I know that I never pictured I would be doing this. Were it not for my son and COVID and all the other bits of craziness, I would probably not be doing this.

But it is a hell of a lot of fun and I have found that 'car' guys from all around have a universal enjoyment of this pursuit. It can be tuned civics or bugattis. It does not matter. This sh!t is fun! The friendships made and the days enjoyed together are incredible memories. I get to share this with my son.

As for 'in 20 years' etc. Do well. I hope you do and I will celebrate with you. My only caution is the 'stuff' does not make you successful. Happiness does not come from the material things. This stuff is sprinkles on the sundae. My true happiness comes from my family and friends.

No need to be so down on stuff. If you dont like it, thats cool. Good luck man.

NC. C7 Z06 is a GREAT car. I like it way more than the C8. I dont think you Z06 would stand much a chance though. Not being cocky, but I am lucky enough to have a pretty fun car. The AWD makes it hook like crazy and there is really not anything faster on the street (stock) except a Tesla Plaid. Stats are 0-60 in 2.3 and 0-100 4.9 and 9.9 1/4. My buddy has a 765LT which will beat it from a roll. My car puts out about 860hp but with AWD that puts about 700 to the wheels. The 765 LT is WAY underrated by McLaren. It puts out over 800 and with RWD it makes a much better 1/4 mile car. It will run 9.5's stock. So from a roll, since he can hook, he can pull on me. But from a dig there is nothing that will come close to hooking with an AWD car.

C7 Z06 is AWESOME though. HUGE fan and love the car!

They are fun. I had an R8 prior which is like a lambo in a tux. The lambo is just raw and unapologetic. A pretty useless car, but just about as fun a car to drive and own as I can think of.
I had thought of jumping into something different, but I really love the Lamborghini brand and history in general. I am on the fence of spec-ing an STO. My dealer offered me an allocation, but it is hard to think of putting close to 500 down on a car in this uncertain economy. Frankly I am a little afraid of the next year or two, and I may just enjoy life and chill for a bit.

Used to love Lambos but they all seem kinda lame now knowing a bog standard Tesla could wreck them. Hopefully they can do some space age electric ****.

I almost bought this one. It came available because the guy who ordered it could not take delivery. The dealership offered the car to me. The market is close to 200 over sticker. The made me a MUCH more fair offer because they wanted the car to stay local. But in the end, it was hard to imagine paying over sticker for a car that was not my 'perfect' car. That is when they offered me an allocation to build and spec one myself. I am considering, but uncertainty in the economy makes me hesitant to spend that much on a car. I just dont know and I dont want to invite stress into my life. I am going to sit on it and see. But I am flattered that they offered me an allocation regardless. Our local dealership is really awesome and we have a great group of local owners. They like to keep the cars local when possible.

Your missing one part. The fun of driving is not always about being the fastest. I think N/A engines will always hold a sentimental place. Just like manual transmissions are slower than DCT's, people seek out manuals to drive when driving is not just a-b, but rather an experience.

Being a one trick pony (like the plaid) is cool, but the novelty will wear off. The guy only bought it since he needed a new business car and he can write it off. He has 3 other "super" cars. At the end of the day it is different and the experience is different. Hybrid and pure electric cars are cool in their way, but a F40 is still lusted after even though it is no longer the fastest car on the road.

This may be an unpopular opinion but a big part of me hates electric cars. I mean, I admire how fast they can go, but hearing an engine roar is so, so much more pleasing to me than some silent fast acceleration.


I'm afraid electric cars are going to completely kill the epicness that is a Lamborghini or Ferrari, etc. Those cars are modern engineering miracles, it's incredible, and the roar is amazing. I'd hate to see them be replaced by EV, they're just no fun. It takes the heart out of it for meit's honestly almost sad. Obviously cars can continue to be combustion engine and they can still make those lamborghinis, but they lose their appeal if you can make some refrigerator appliance that outperforms it.

Anyway yeah, this is definitely good car porn. That Urus is nice, I actually remember your thread from a few weeks back about it.


It's nice and glad to hear you think it's different, but the exhaust needs to be meaner, I want to hear a Lamborghini sound like it's ripping the pavement in half when you step on the gas. The exhaust almost sounded reserved in the video.
