Real talk, how can I fix my shot to bits attention span?
I think 10 years of smartphones, video games and all the rest of it has given me some form of ADD.
I can't read a book any more, I struggle to even watch a movie without constant scrolling.
Studying is a nightmare, I cannot concentrate for ****.
Has anyone else managed to fix this issue? I was looking at meditation and limiting my screen time or something.,

I'm in CC. And this was the topic at hand for English 102(will be discussed this Tuesday in class).
So the thing is this - cognitive scientist thinks that we are losing our ability to read and concentrate because the medium in which people read is switching over to digital instead of hardbacks. Our attention span seems to be diminishing because of distractions, in turn, our reading ability(and who knows what else) is going to chit. That's the argument of the scientist.
I, however, have a different viewpoint. Remember that I told yall that I was a top tier researcher? Well, I've been doing research long before I entered CC, which was last month, at 32. Most of my reading was done online. Without the internet, I don't think my knowledge base would be as vast as it is. I personally believe that the internet is a much better medium for reading. Because what are books? Aside from university textbooks, they are anecdotal testaments, written by those who could afford to get a book printed. With the internet and affordable websites, you now have access to different viewpoints at the whim of a button. The Rape of Nanking is a good example of a fake book being circulated. Without the internet back then, nobody knew if it was legitimate or not. But today, we know that the chit tier American'ts are in the East droning little kids. They can't hide it anymore.
It is true, there are many distractions on the internet. But if you can develop the skill(and it is a skill) to concentrate - the internet is a very powerful place to gain knowledge.
I still use textbooks and pdfs. And I still get easily distracted. However, once I get into the mode of reading, researching, and writing, it gets easier to deeply concentrate.
So, know that distractions are there and try your best to contain it. Its a problem for many people.

******** - it'll reprogram your brain to release happy-chemicals when you're doing something productive. That way in the future you naturally come to enjoy reading and whatever else you set your mind to do. Just don't overdo it and get addicted

Challenge yourself to 30 minutes of monotasking a day. Choose one thing, sit in a room with no distractions and complete that one task. Read, write, learn an instrument, fix something. Just make sure you don't have your phone with you. It's bound to push a notification that distracts you.

Do a complete disconnect. srs.
Take a week vacation. Turn your phone off. Turn it on once a day to take care of chit, but turn it off right after. Don't bring a computer.
My Indian boss just did this and says he has never felt more focused. He says it is common in their culture and helps immensely. We westerners have a different culture that is just go go go, and it tends to cloud our minds. srs.
