Damn, what you said about being denied treatment is very frightening. IIRC you were early on, I just hope nowadays it's being looked at more openly, more doctors willing to 'kitchen sink' approach with this (particularly with drugs we know are otherwise safe, whether they directly help or not).

Can't argue with your recommendations, either. Although, I would not firmly make them. We're still learning here, my worry is these vaccines aren't even that helpful (long term) for anyone. Meaning, they might help at first in reducing symptoms but I fear that quickly wears off and there is a possibility that some people afterwards could be less able to ward off covid with their own immune system afterwards. Hope that isn't the case, of course.

I wonder if reinfections, rare as they are, are even more rare with people who've gotten vaccinated and then get it. Part of me thinks everyone will get this (at least once) at some point. Might be the best case for those at risk to get vaccinated, wait a few weeks and then get exposed to it.

This is also where I'm currently at. I've advised my mother (over 60) to get vaccinated, but not with the mRNA vaccines because of the potential long term safety issues. And I won't be getting vaccinated in the foreseeable future, or until I'm happy with the safety profile of any future vaccines, novovax for example. Monoclonal antibodies seem to be the best option if you receive treatment soon after infection (almost 80%) if my memory serves me.

A couple of things to factor in. Correlating hospitalization to vaccination will get skewed when you consider the elderly are the most likely to get hospitalized even if vaccinated. Also, we don't know how many of the unvaccinated were previously infected and have natural immunity which would help the lower totals. you may be right, but I whoever put these numbers together seems to have them mucked up. But, if you are right, one also has to consider the numbers could be skewed by including the hospitalizations before the vaccine to the current totals. Back then, everyone was unvaccinated and that racked up a big number.

I would look at few more studies to find some consistency. I think the problem is each country population will differ based on population density, lockdowns, average age, obesity levels etc.

conclusion- let everyone do them

hospitalization figures are meaningless anyway, the majority of hospitalizations are for mild or symptomatic cases
i.e. the people have been scared to death and go to the hospital for no reason
