Update!
Went to see The Struts and Shinedown with Ayron Jones opening.
First time seeing the Struts. Have always liked their music I've heard on radio, super upbeat and dancy rock. The concert was outside. Didn't seem very crowded except the people up near the stage. My friend and I stayed a little further back and behind us was really sparse. They put on a great show and the singer is a great front man. Highly recommend!
I think it was my 5th or 6th time seeing Shindedown. This was my sons bday present. Was a smaller inside venue that holds about 4K people. Ayron Jones was really good and prob the first time I've ever seen a no name opener get the whole crowd standing. As for Shinedown they absolutely rocked, they were so f'ing amazing! The crowd was so rowdy, it was so much fun! Highly highly highly recommend!
And so far so good on no Covid symptoms. Both venues said masks at all times but hardly anyone wore theirs once inside and they didn't enforce it.
Anyone else been to any shows this summer? Any shows coming up? We have Halestorm/Evanescence in Dec. I've heard of some venues requiring the vax even after the fact of tickets being sold so we'll see if we're able to go as we won't be vaxed. I'll prob rage and go postal if that happens because I've never seen either and have always wanted to.

glad you had fun. i hate big crowds and big concerts. i only listen to EDM in my daily life but if i'm going to see live music i prefer a small bar or lounge with a guy on acoustic guitar or a cover band - playing 80s, 90s, 00s nostalgic cover hits from my youth. like this -

I figured Shinedown wouldn't disappoint, they seem pretty talented. Glad you had fun!
I have no plans for shows other than Joe Rogan arena show. I might hit Dreamstate in So Cal in November.

The So Cal show will be vaxxed or negative Covid Test. I will not be vaxxed and if I do, it'll be the Novavax.

So today I was listening to Killswitch Engage (one of my favorite bands) As Daylight Dies Deluxe Edition, and I'm like "Damn, I wish I could see these guys again." So I hop on Ticketmaster and see that there's a totally different front man (shame on me for not knowing, guess I'm just stuck in the past in some way, lol) and there aren't any shows until next year, all overseas. Man I loved going to shows between 2005-2009, such a freakin awesome time for music. I saw Killswitch, Underoath, Coheed and Cambria (about a dozen times), multiple Warped Tour's, MXPX, Blink182, No Doubt, Paramore, ahhhhhh I gotta stop I'm getting the feels

Went to Coheed and Cambria a couple weeks ago. Awesome as always
Then have the following lined up
Holy Fawn(October) 3rd time seeing them (absolutely incredible group, and I sincerely hope and wish they get big)
Deafheaven(October) 3rd time seeing them (they have evolved drastically from their first album to their most recent release. Went from Black-Gaze to ******t Shoe gaze post rock-ish)
Mastodon(December) I think this will be my 6th time seeing them? Never once been disappointed
Jason Mraz(December) Legit lost track of how many times I’ve seen him, from coffee shops to big ass theaters
Deftones and Gojira(April) Another band I have no idea how many times I’ve seen. Deftones are from my hometown, so I got to see them play in fukkin parks when I was a kid lol. Obviously still one of my absolute favorite bands (also where my pups got their names from). Only seen Gojira once, and it was the last half of their set, so doesn’t count. CAnnot fukkin wait!
Spoiler!

You know you're getting old when ticket prices for bands you want to see start to going triple figures easy.

Taking my sons to their first rock concert in a couple of weeks: Teenage Bottlerocket (punk, basically).
The venue is requiring masks, and vaccine or negative test within 72 hours, which I'm trying to figure out if that is 72 hours from test or 72 hours from receiving results. I'm guessing it's the former which makes it harder to juggle for a Saturday concert.

I'll bet it's 72 hours from test. You'd prob have to go somewhere where you get results that day. Our Halestorm/Evanescence concert this winter is also either neg test within 72 hours or vax. I'm really hoping it doesn't change to vax only.

My brother is going with us which is cool. I didn't get to really see any concerts until my 40s because I've always been too busy and not making time for leisure. My brother has seen thousands of bands, and we've finally seen some concerts together: Jimmy Eat World and Nerf Herder. Crazy we never hung out until our 40s.
I met the lead singer of Jimmy Eat World (super stand up guy) and everyone in Nerf Herder (awesome guys too)

I saw Morrissey in Chicago when I was in college, and he played like 4 songs then walked off the stage depressed and didn't come back. Srs
I saw James Taylor with my wife and hated every minute. She's a huge fan of his and unfortunately we have different music tastes. Lol
