Cost of living, CT is just way too expensive. Less people, red state, more freedoms, new scenery and slower pace in life.

Planning to get involved in firearms, and continue being in the automotive hobby.

No job yet, but right now the job market is an appliers market right now. I'm in the automotive and heavy equipment trade. Trying to find a way into the gas and oil field.

No U-Haul, just loaded my truck up, and tossed my furniture. Most of my furniture was hand me downs or cheap enough to toss and not care. I'm coming from a 1 bedroom apartment, so it's not like I had a lot of stuff anyway.

Yeah I've visited WY twice. I had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the area. I consider myself "only" right leaning, but these past 5 years have been way too wild of a ride. Blue states are not for me anymore.

Why didn't you pick a state with better weather? I looked at Wyoming but the horrible weather turned me off

Houses are well insulated. Sunny when it's not snowing. Wyoming winters aren't the miserable slog that are winters in Ohio or NY where it's grey and miserable for months at a time.

Just get used to the wind that chit is no joke. Businesses even close on of their double doors depending on which way the wind blows.

LOL I'm used to cold weather, and this past year CT had 30-50mph winds. I just don't like hot weather and humidity.

About to cross into PA soon. I'm glad the weather is so nice, makes traveling across the country so much easier. Will report later tonight as I get more miles down my trip. Might stop by Summit Racing in Ohio if I have the time.

In CT as well and also looking to move out. Would like to go to somewhere in a nice lively town surrounded by NPS, NF, BLM, or other public land. I really liked Sisters, OR and some of the towns outside Yellowstone and the Tetons.
How much cash dollars did you save up to make the move?

I’m sure Wyoming is beautiful, I just wouldn’t be able to stand the isolation. I prefer living within 30-45 mins of a mid-sized to major city. But maybe you’ll get to chill with Kanye and ride a Bison.

How bad is CT really? If I stay in the Northeast it’s one of the states I’d consider (along with NH).

Good stuff OP. Never been to Wyoming. But had always mire that state based slow pace,cheap, scenery and wild life (Yosemite), thinking of moving out of California.

I lived in Laramie for a few years and the winters were never ending and brutal. Most of the Denver area is way way milder. Ohio and NY aren't even comparable, their winters are a joke by comparison.

Brb first snow of the year was in early September, the last in early June. It got down to -50f without wind chill one night when I was living out there. A week of temps not even getting out of the negatives, in Fahrenheit, was not uncommon. Summers were really nice though, just way too short.

I didn't live in Denver. I lived at 7500 feet on the Palmer Divide. I can't believe Cheyenne at just 130 miles away endured significantly harsher winters. Of course, if you work outdoors and your house isn't well insulated, then your experience would have been different than mine, but outside of the 2 weeks every winter that Siberian temperatures rolled in from Canada, I loved winters in Colorado. Having grown up on the east coast where winters were ugly, grey, and depressing... Colorado winters were great.

I don't think those temperatures are an issue when you're inside, unless you live in a tent, or the power goes out for a significant amount of time, they are an issue if you go outside.

I've lived in Ohio too, and while the winters are gloomier, they're also much much shorter, and way milder. They're not even comparable really.

Idk about the Palmer Divide, but Colorado always felt milder, even at similar elevation, barring maybe some remote parts of the state. I used to drive down into Weld County a lot when I lived out there and it was pretty damn cold too, though beautiful. Very few tourists in that part of the state as well, despite incredible access to the mountains.

Edit: I meant Jackson County, not Weld. I'd usually stop for gas and food in Walden, which was a tiny remote town.
