I will never overcome my insecurites

I feel that I have accomplished a few things in life, but I will never get rid of the insecurities I have developed throughout my formative years.

Looks and childhood experiences are everything

It is over

Insecure about women in general.
Brutal rejections in my youth due to height and face.
My own family treated me like chit.
You can say I was rejected by my own mom because I grew up with my abusive ( physical and psychological) father.
I always have a feeling of inadequacy.

I am very secure about many things tho.

I don't want to waste my money on therapy because I think that I'm beyond repair.

I've watched tons of interviews, on Mark Laita's channel, with the troubled of society. The homeless, drug addicts, pimps, prostitutes, convicts....

There is one common theme in all the stories.

A bad childhood involving some form of abuse. Take your pick.

It all stems from parents and childhood upbringing.

When a chid comes from a broken home involving abuse the tour is pretty much over.

The brokenness is attempted to be blanketed over with destructive behavior to cope with the trauma.

For most, there is no recovery.

Not saying you can't overcome it, but from a numbers perspective, the odds aren't in your favor.

I should know. I've had my own problems with drugs and other destructive behaviors from a rotten past.

Good luck on your journey.

Yea, I've been involved in pretty much every reckless behavior you can involve yourself in. It's insane the courage that hopelessness gives you. It's more powerful than alcohol.

For me, personally, destructive behavior can be analogized with Pandora's box. It can never be closed. From there I've just been wrestling with problems; trying to moderate addictive impulses.

After analyzing things though the guilt of the destructive behavior subsides, because you didn't have a choice in any of it. You're trying to fix a void from your childhood that can never be filled.

Why do you care so much if you get rejected? It’s embarrassing ya but at the end of the day it doesnt really matter.

Ofc im not saying go be one of those pick up autists, but put yourself out there... find a girl that notices you, gives you a look or something and go talk to her.

Talking to girls is much like a muscle, if you train it constantly, it will become stronger, if you dont, it will atrophy and die.

Think about it logically, you have the genetic makeup of your predecessors, they were able to find a girl to bust inside of... so should you. This fear of rejection or failure that you have is at its core illogical, like any other fear. And like any other fear, the only thing that will overcome it is to man-up and face it.

Read "No More Mr Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. Get the book from amazon or get a transcription online (google for it). The read it again and start internalizing some of the information.

Self help books are plenty helpful but you really need to put a few bucks aside and see a professional, IMO. Deep rooted insecurities and feelings of helplessness will easily stick with you for a lifetime w/o professional intervention. Most people are not equipped to cope in a healthy manner and trying to self-correct can lead someone down a destructive path.

I care because it's painful given my history.
I am not a normal kid.

Also, your ancestor reproductive success doesn't guarantee yours for many reasons that involve both genetic and environmental factors.
Not to get into the details of heredity and differential gene expression, you're not a copy of your father. Finally, the circumstances in which my fathers got laid are very different from mine.
Also, I am far from a virgin. All of my lays IRL came from girls approaching or showing obvious signs of interests.
Fear of rejection Is very logical because rejection is very painful and highly probable. It's actually illogical to put yourself in a painful situation.

Yes talking to girls is a skill that is developed with practice.
I talk to girls/women almost every day.

I can give it a look.
Still, I am very skeptical of people with an overdeveloped sense of agency.

It's a book about nice guys who live unfulfilled lives because they put the needs of others before their own needs. These kind of men are programmed as children to be this way, so it's difficult for them as an adult to understand why they feel so frustrated. The book is written by a doctor who treated unhappy men and discovered that they shared the same traits. It's a distillation of the the therapy he used to help them.

That sounds good.

I don't really think I am in that category tho.
I don't really pedestalize people unless they are an expert in something.
My biggest issue is just feeling inadequate.
It's true that I put women on pedestal on a few occasions ( taking them on expensive dates )
But, it's not common.
Ill look into it if time allows.
