Which was really more Tragic of a Death misc?

So we have a 12 year Air force Veteran who was shot and killed by a police officer, she was only armed with an American flag, she was shot and killed because she was trespassing and climbing through a window of the capitol of the country she lives in during broad daylight, a capitol which has been occupied by many protesters before and none were shot. He was praised and not charged and free to go.

Then we have a 7 time felon who was actively committing a crime, died of an overdose of drugs not a gunshot directly from a police officer intending to kill him, and actively was physically fighting and resisting police for minutes. All police officers involved fired and charged with manslaughter or worse.

United States erects statues and riots in the streets causing way more deaths and destruction 100 fold than anything on January 6th. for the criminals death.

The veteran young female with no criminal record is labeled a terrorist.

How do people not see the insanity going on here?

After things have settled down I am hoping I see a pretty much 100% answer here.

one was a strong woman who selflessly served her country for over a decade and was wrongfully murdered in cold blood.

the other was a career criminal who was being combative with the police while high on a cocktail of illegal narcotics and passed away due to it.

one a senseless tragedy and the other a man who had it coming to him his entire life.

I'll say this because it applies in ALL scenarios.

Unarmed =/= Not dangerous

Especially when YOU have a gun, OUT.

For this scenario, obviously the first one though.

Truly brings to light that history is written by the winners- and nowadays the winner is the one with complete media stranglehold. The truth doesnt matter, its the perception that matters, and they can clearly make people perceive what they want them to.

Neither deserve honor or praise but one may be able to argue that George Floyd's civil rights were being violated during his interaction with the police BUT he over re acted when interacting with the police. He was resisting and not cooperating and LEO are only human. If anything it was an error on the cop's part but to say George Floyd was intentionally murdered? I wouldn't say so.

Regarding Ashli Babbitt it sounds like Lt. Michael Byrd shot Ashli as a last resort when this woman tried to storm the Capitol and harm elected officials. His life has been threatened for making a snap decision in the heat of things. The First Amendment provides for “the right of the people peaceably to assemble". Peaceably would imply no acts of violence and during that day we saw violence occurred so what was done to her was an attempt to protect those elected officials.

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

how is someone climbing a window a last resort. You know I am a cop and thats hardly last resort. I have had bones broken, shoulder torn out of socket, been in countless fights, pulled husbands off wives actively engaged in combat, and I never pulled my gun on any of them. How was someone climbing through a window draped with an American flag a last resort to protect life?

Things are MUCH less by the book for the George Floyd instance because its completely subjective and even arguably that that it was the intention of not just Derek Chauvin but the other officers for George Floyd to die. But it was argued and proven they were all murderers.
Their suspect was physically engaged in combat and resisting arrest and had struck officers multiple times and did not die due to injuries sustained from the officers.

Ashli Babbitt was unarguably killed by the officer. She had hit no one, there is no evidence of her damaging property, she is simply climbing a ****ing wall honestly. And she was shot because she climbed the wrong wall. Honestly I dont agree at all with the findings there and think that officer overreacted big time due to pressure from the politicians and shot and killed someone who didnt need to die because of it.

LOL I'm not supporting him.

I got criticized because I didn't get fall for the appeal to emotion during the George Floyd stuff by other Black folks so I get it.

In terms of civility, the latter.

Your method of judgement could ignore the causes of death and simply say she was a better human than him.

Hardly at all. Someone fighting the police is different than someone climbing a wall, a small female VS a tall muscular male. That definitely adds to the level of how tragic the event was.

In what other mob event in the US have you heard of police just opening fire on unarmed protesting civilians? not rubber bullets, not mace, a bullet to the chest.

Now how many deaths are there from drug addicts going into excited delirium and dying of heart failure when they fought with police? (theres actually a lot in history, 100s to 1000s of instances)

My method of judgement is the totality of everything, she was a better person because she wasnt a criminal who held a gun to a pregnant womans stomach, she was fighting what is appearing to be a very real injustice, a bunch of criminal stealing an election and attempting to destroy a country from the top down, this isnt some radical idea, its an idea shared by at least half the country now. Everything about these circumstances should make everyone more upset over Ashli Babbitt dying over George Floyd, the only defense of George Floyds death being more tragic is that he was black, and THAT is racist because that is saying a black person death is more important and signifcant than anyone elses death.

I've always gotten confused by the George Floyd case. Like, what if he was white? Maybe the chain of events would've been exactly the same?

Nobody will know unless an alternate dimension where George Floyd is white is created. Or if a person time traveled to ask the police guy what he thought prior to the killing.

Unless the suspect in any racist case says that they're racist or does something blatantly racist, then it's hard to say without having an opinion take over.

She was storming the offices of elected officials. He was fleeing a low level street crime.

Justice ought to treat these differently.

what is storming?
What did they think her intended goal was?
if people want to go into an area where politicians are gathered, we should just shoot them because theres "elected officials"inside? WTF is that? People cant go into where public officials are and protest without getting shot? Why not just arrest them.

Like I said explain to me other times when people storming the capitol were shot or when people breaking into buildings to protest were shot by police.

What reason did she have to go in there? Absolutely someone breaking into secured areas like this needs stopped. Not like they went to a nearby park. How do you think a civilization can work with any idiot trying to violently veto policy at all times?

What if someone like her broke into your house? You would be wise to stop her, which logistically means lethal force.
