That was implied by my second sentence, yes. AFAIK there are no black Targaryens in the books.

They also have purple eyes'n ****.

But Black Targaryens isn't going to be why the show isn't worth watching.

In fact, talking with a fan on his blog in 2013, he talked about how he thought it could have been a good idea to give the Targaryen family black skin:

[R]ight from the start I wanted the Targaryens, and by extension the Valryians from whom they were descended, to be a race apart, with distinctive features that set them apart from the rest of Westeros, and helped explain their obsession with the purity of their blood. To do this, I made a conventional โ€˜high fantasyโ€™ choice, and gave them silver-gold hair, purple and violet eyes, fine chiseled aristocratic features. That worked well enough, at least in the books (on the show, less so).

But in recent years, it has occurred to me from time to time that it might have made for an interesting twist if instead I had made the dragonlords of Valyriaโ€ฆ and therefore the Targaryensโ€ฆ black. Maybe I could have kept the silver hair too, thoughโ€ฆ no, that comes too close to โ€˜dark elfโ€™ territory, but stillโ€ฆ if Iโ€™d had dark-skinned dragonlords invade and conquer and dominate a largely white Westerosโ€ฆ though that choice would have brought its own perils. The Targaryens have not all been heroic, after allโ€ฆ some of them have been monsters, madmen, soโ€ฆ

Well, itโ€™s all moot. The idea came to me about twenty years too late.

Exactly. The season 6 finale was in my opinion the greatest episode of television in history. That opening sequence of the wildfire blowing up the sept was just pure brilliance, then the scene showing who Jon's true parents are cutting right to his face and the northerners declaring him the king in the north, then the scene of Arya feeding the Frey kids to the dad and killing him, and finally the end of Danny finally sailing across the sea. Just so much happening and such great build up going into the final seasons. But yeah, season 7 was meh, but that total chitfest that was season 8 just killed it. I even went to the Game of Thrones live concert a few months before season 8 aired, which was a great concert, which shows how excited I was for it. Such a let down.

As for this, I don't have an HBO account so I'll wait and see what the reviews are like before deciding if I should watch.

It will be woke trash like the LOTR knock-off series; more focused on ticking diversity boxes and being "modern" than actually sticking to the material and telling a story.

GOT season 1-6 was class; best battles, best character development, best lines, best one-on-one fights. seasons 7 and 8 dropped off though.

Yeah, I mean to be fair those six episodes were definitely well made production-wise, and I'm sure the crew worked like crazy during those two years making them. If you feel like a clown waiting those two years, imagine how the crew must feel now having spent two years working so tirelessly on it now seeing what kind of fukery they were doing with such chit writing and the utter hatred response of the fans. You gotta feel bad for everyone who worked on the production (minus the people involved with writing it).
