Did you just compare rookie Brady to rookie Mahomes? lmao

So you can't make a thread praising Mahomes and Peyton without immediately mentioning GOATy

You Brady homers would've definitely done the same thing had he not mentioned it, so it's a bit hypocritical for you to say that. Just saying!

All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

I mean that's where Mahomes is already, the only foreseeable player who has any shot to unGOAT Brady so of course he's gonna come up

Obviously nobody can predict longevity but it's certainly no reach to say at some point in the future Mahomes is going to own every single passing statistic known especially with 17 game seasons
Not just some, or the major categories, but every single statistic there is. All of them

I’d need to see Mahomes play a few years with a non elite receiving core first.

He’s benefited from having the most lethal weapons in the game since he started.

If brady spent his entire career with weapons galore homies numbers would be in outer space.

Toms had truly elite wide out targets twice.

Randy moss, and when he was 42 years old.

And they set the league on fire.

Let me see Mahomboy play a few years with receivers who can’t get any separation and see if his trajectory stays the same.

Some QBs can do more with less, Mahomes has never had to face that dragon.

Mahomes is certainly the most gifted QB to enter the league since Manning, even more so than Rodgers IMO. Some of the throws he makes are insane. I remember in the Super Bowl last year he threw an on target pass while laying sideways in the air and it hit his RB right in the face mask. There is no one else in the league that can make the throws Mahomes makes.

Brady is the GOAT, but he isn't even close to being as physically talented as Mahomes..... and neither was Peyton, but Manning just had that mental understanding of the game unlike anyone we'd ever seen.

Chiefs are 2-2. Yeah that sounds about right for Peyton Manning.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I see the weapons qualifier a lot and there is some merit there...
Having a top end WR and elite TE are absolute drivers to his early success, but neither of these players were who they are today before Mahomes either
Hell Tyreek was only making pro bowls as a return specialist pre Mahomes, Kelce was a walmart Gronk

So the narrative that he's had "most lethal weapons in the game" is not entirely accurate imo
7 of Mahomes' 14 TDs so far this year have went to guys not named Hill or Kelce...
Will rep anyone who can name one without going to the google box (respek honor system), reps for life if any of those 7 are on your fantasy team

He has never had a RB take any pressure off the passing game since Hunt was cut
Sammy Watkins never put more than 700yds and 3 scores, that's every single team's #2 WR production
Who are these "weapons galore"?

I definitely think the "elite weapons" thing has been very overblown. He has Hill and Kelce. I don't even know who their #2 is right now....Hardman? There are definitely teams with a much better skill position group. Bucs and Cowboys come to mind right away. Browns can be put in there too when they are actually fully healthy.

Mahomes is awesome to watch.

Not comparable to Peyton or Brady.

If he stays injury free and doesn’t blow his leg apart or some **** maybe he will be one day.

Kelce was an all pro in 2016. He was a probowler in 2017.
Tyreek was an all pro in 2016 (KR). He was a probowler in 2017.

Alex Smith has historically never been one to throw it deep. He was the league's best deep passer in 2017. Do you think having the most explosive downfield threat since Moss could have played a role in that?

You don't think we know who CEH, Robinson, and Hardman are? CEH is a 1st round pick, Hardman was a 2nd round pick, and Robinson was a 4th round pick. I don't know why you're acting like they are scrubs.

Damien Williams had 107 yards on 17 carries and 2 tds in the SB vs the 49ers. CEH had 9 carries for 64 yards in the SB. In terms of top-end talent, no team in the league can compete with the Chiefs. Look at how defenses react to Hill.

I think we more or less agree here as I acknowledge Hill & Kelce are paramount in his success up to this point...
And while they were good pre Mahomes, they seemed to have become instantly all world elite since Mahomes

Smith was the leagues top deep passerby metricsin 2017, but finishing barely over 4k yards for the year doesnt exactly scream that he was just slangin it.
Completing 9 outta 10 on passes over 20yds will grade better than going 20 for 30 but we all know which we'd rather have

Nah my point is they are just bodies that every single NFL team has. They are not any special talent that no QB has ever been blessed with and the names are interchangeable with all 32 teams

CEH idk maybe, he has shown some flashes success early this year with the new oline, so maybe he blossoms into a complimentary weapon defenses are forced to really account for, but if we redrafted 2019 right now, would he crack the first 3 rounds?
Robinson is in his 7th year, he is who the whole league thinks he is. A fine downfield blocker for those wide circling Tyreek jet sweeps. Never has topped 500yds of production for a year, and that's in an offense that begs someome else get open due to Hill & Kelce commanding all the double teams
Hardman has been a borderline bust as well. He doesnt possess any route tree, can't get off press coverage. In fact he has no targets beyond the line of scrimmage yet this year. His production has continued to fall since his rookie year and he's been relegated as a gadget player that Reid has to manufacture touches for. This is why you'll always see highlights of his in the 1st 15 plays but rarely anything after the end of the 1st quarter
Again, always covered by the opposing defense's 2nd or 3rd corner, and never bracketed or double covered

1 TD and 38 of Williams' yards came when the game was in hand and KC was trying to run the clock out, the other TD was a Mahomes throw.
I really dont know what point you are trying to make with CEH's stats in a game they were unable to do anything offensively either

The overall theme is of all the complimentary players you listed, 0 pro bowls, 0 offensive accolades, 0 fantasy football rosters (maybe CEH in deep leagues) despite opposing defenses putting minimal resources into stopping anyone other than Hill and Kelce

It's pretty clear it was him and not Belichick that was the reason the Pats were so dominant.

It’s really hard to tell how good other weapons are when you have players as good as kelce and hill. Really no way to tell until one of them is gone. You can claim they don’t put up good numbers, but having 2 elite players “hurts” other players numbers.

As for Williams “only putting up yards when they were running clock out…you’re telling me he put those numbers up when everyone knew he was getting the ball and he still did it…sounds more like a situation it would be HARDER for him to put up those numbers, not easier.

Kelce was 1st team all-pro in 2016 and 2nd team all-pro in 2017. That means he was the best TE in football in 2017 and the second best TE in football in 2018. How is that merely good? Tyreek Hill was already the league's premium deep threat in 2017. I agree, they both leveled up with Mahomes but to pretend they weren't already among the best players at their positions in 2017 is wrong.

Smith was the most accurate deep passer, he threw for the most yards on deep passes, and he was tied for the most touchdowns on deep passes. He was also like 10th in the league on attempts. Why would you say this if you didn't know the answer?

I don't understand this. Hill and Kelce are both elite #1 options. I'd argue they are both top 5 in best receiving options in the league. I'm not an expert on the #3, #4, and #5 options. We can say they are all at or below league average. The Chiefs are still top 5 in offensive weapons based solely on the strength of the #1 and #2 options. The only clear cut team ahead of them are the Bucs.

You said Mahomes had no RB support. In the playoffs, he has had fantastic run support. Why do you think he's called playoff Damien? I also don't understand your CEH comment. He was averaging 7.1 YPC against a historically stingy run defense. Granted, this stat is less impressive with the proper context but the point is the run game was working.
2018 Divisional Playoffs vs Colts- 129 rushing yards on 25 carries and a touchdown.

2018 AFC Championship Game vs Patriots- 66 receiving yards, 3 touchdowns- and if Dee Ford was onsides or KC wins the coin toss, he would have been the hero.

2019 AFC Divisional Playoffs- 3 touchdowns in the big Texan comeback, including the first TD to cut it to 24-7 and the go-ahead TD before halftime that gave KC the lead for keeps.

2019 AFC Championship Game- After Mahomes' spectacular TD run before halftime, it was actually scoreless in the 3rd quarter before he scored a critical insurance TD.

Super Bowl LIV- A performance many felt was deserving of SB MVP, 104 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns

It's pretty clear it was him and not Belichick that was the reason the Pats were so dominant.
WHAT?!? this is so obviously wrong

Go crown FB Anthony Sherman for the lead block that sprung him then
Williams went untouched, made nobody miss, broke no tackles

Tyreek Hill was already the league's premium deep threat in 2017. I agree, they both leveled up with Mahomes but to pretend they weren't already among the best players at their positions in 2017 is wrong.
I've conceded Hill and Kelce since the beginning of the thread...

You're right I wasn't bothered to go actually look up where he actually finished on a fairly menial metrics
Remind me again who the AFC probowl QBs were in 2017 tho?

Agree totally. and this is essentially my entire argument
What Mahomes has in terms of weapons, playmakers, skill positions etc is not some overwhelming perk the league has never experienced

How has Williams looked since leaving KC and doesnt face empty boxes on 100% of the snaps?
I think he's still in the league right?

Bolded was my point

Worked so well it netted them 9pts

relax

Real NFL fans know this is a weak era of the NFL.

none of these stats mean much to me.

ever since they changed the rules in the 2000s, all the QBs have inflated stats. Bradys, Brees, Peytons, now Mahomes, etc.

It used to be getting 300 yards throwing in a game was a highlight career achievement that only pro bowlers would get. Now half the league's QB's get 300 yards passing every sunday.

the NFL is a joke now.

What's been incredible for KC is the sustainability of health on the offensive side of the ball.

And unlike Aaron Rodgers, he's not a passive aggressive ph agit who is average when it matters.
Rodgers playoff stats are impressive... he loses because his defense gives up an average of 36 points in playoff losses. Hard to win when you need a TD on every possession.

Mahomes **** the bed in both super bowls. He’s a great QB, but he has been carried in key moments because his team is among the most talented in the league.
