Racial demographics complicate the data. Well-to-do Buckhead is a majority-White neighborhood; Atlanta, majority Black. Some observers worry that cityhood for Buckhead could be devastating, removing access to revenue from acritical tax baseand even deepening racial tensions.

Visited Atlanta relatively recently and enjoyed it a lot to be fair. Although visiting and living somewhere will always be vastly different experiences.

ATL isnt doing anything to help Buckhead with the crazy surge in crime so they want to move away and become their own town with their own police department. I dont see anything wrong with that, if you cant get help from anyone then you move on and take care of yourself.

Lol I'm truly assuming you are looking at this from a pros cons perspective and all matters of race have been removed correct? I'm a minority too n would probably say the same thing, but ppl always think I can be racist. It's more about safety and maintaining, rather than race. It's safe to say that in minority hoods, crime is always higher. The middle and upper class do not want it near them, so it makes sense. The results would be the same if it were Buckhead and. Have trailer park full of whites were a major cause of crime. They would still want to secede.

They're going to turn it into a race issue because sadly most of the crimes are committed by minorities. You have a poor city next door to a rich area. Of course they are going to go there and rob/beat up people. The department wont do anything due to staffing, political climate, and a useless mayor.

I was discussing this the other day in the thread about Toronto’s decline/degeneracy spread. Buckhead splitting from Atlanta will do absolutely nothing unless they literally build a wall or moat around the neighborhood, or at least install toll booths at every single road into their vicinity.

Do these retards think gangbangers melt if they cross Atlanta city boundaries? They do realize the shootings happening at Lenox Square Mall are not committed by residents, don’t they? Doesn’t MARTA run through Buckhead? They don’t think criminals drive cars? Some arrests have been of people who live in different states. A political boundry doesn’t keep anyone out, you have to disincentivize them from even wanting to come in.

And I get the concept of beefing up your police presence when the city wants to defund, but the Atlanta police force is pretty deep as it is and they’ve failed to curtail these crime sprees. Innocent people are getting robbed or carjacked, sometimes shot, in broad daylight outside of the most affluent shopping center in the state. It’s a cultural issue exasperated by an easy gathering area, lack of purpose, media propaganda and street beef.

Seceding from Atlanta will do nothing but make some rich snobs and that committee president feel good.

The metro I work in is like a smaller, blacker Atlanta. The last decent sized white neighborhood had to hire a private police force since the city refused to do anything about the rampant property crime ded fukn srs. Not sure why Buckhead doesn't do that. The courts are never gonna let them break away
