Makes me laugh when people try to downplay Christopher Columbus

If it was so easy why didn't anybody else try it? And no, the Vikings on Greenland and New Foundland don't count.

He was a bit stubborn thinking he found India but I still rate him A+

It's ironic people call it a racist holiday nowadays, considering it's origins was to placate Italians upset when several of their own were unjustifiably lynched in the late 1800s.

Yeah it's an interesting one and shows how quickly standards can change. Personally I can see why some people would be uncomfortable celebrating him so I'm not too fussed about that.

The discovery Columbus made in 1492 changed the course of human history, what exactly did the Viking encounter do?

Yea but I feel like everyone was brutal across history. Getting miffed about Columbus is like whining about Genghis Khan raping 1/12th of the world into existence, ya know? (And even G.K. had some pretty good ideas. He'd let places maintain their culture, would hire his best opponents in his army. Dude was a G)
