Well wouldn’t you be when trying to cope with the reality of nihilism?

Nihilism is the only logical worldview a non-believer can have.

I want this thread to end now but I want all of you to know you will all goto heaven. Unless you’re truely evil, you will get into heaven. You don’t have to accept the existence of god.

I wouldn't say I'm demonizing it. I think it teaches good morals and is generally good for society. But I just think it's silly to base your whole life on a book that's most likely fictional

If you’re an atheist, nihilism is the only logical conclusion.

Any other attempt to say it’s not is pure cope.

I feel the same way bro. I try to entertain it. I live in the Bible Belt and grew up in an extremely christian household, but can't help but feel deep down....its fkin Lord of the Rings. JR Tolkein and JK Rowlings is on the same level to me.

Here's the thing, I believe in the possibility of a God and act accordingly, with a particular reverence and humility, especially to fit into my environment, but I just can't spend too much time reading the stories and trying to interpret as fact

Sure, go read Plato, Aristotle, and Alvin Plantinga then get back to me once you’ve thoroughly understood their ideas and how their philosophies are used as evidence for belief in a deity.

You’re the type of religioncel that turns people off regarding religion. The type that thinks one can’t have morals and values without believing in a giant fukking fairy tale fabricated centuries ago to control the masses. Don’t even get me started on the atrocities committed in the name of “God”… thou shalt not kill… unless the other guy believes in a different sky daddy. LOL. In the words of Bill Burr(roughly)…. God is everywhere?… but i have to go somewhere special to talk to him…. Oh and he’s mad at me and I owe you money? Lmao.

This is true of 99.999% of people and exactly 100% of people are utterly inconsequential on a cosmic scale.

Yeah because belief in Christianity is the same as believing in Santa Claus. Is this a joke or am I supposed to entertain this as an actual challenge to belief?

How many people has communism killed? I guarantee it’s much more than in the name of any “God” as you say.

And no, you don’t have to be somewhere special to talk to God. Don’t be ignorant on a religion that you’re attacking, it makes you look childish.

How does it feel knowing that an atheist wrote and therefore invented everything you believe in?

How does it feel that The Bible and all the characters in it are just a dumbed down version of the Egyptian and Greek mythology that came before them?

Honestly I'm envious of you, ignorance is bliss after all.

Everyone believes in Christianity, it's a religion that literally exists. Rather, it's the fairytales about God, Jesus etc. that are the fantastical elements which analagous to believing in Santa Claus.

Oh lawd, are we seriously bringing up the Mithras and Osris mythologies and making hurrr durrr connections to Christianity? You do know that line of argumentation has been disproven for well over a 100 years now?

Oh wait, no you don’t. Since you’ve done absolutely zero research on the topic other than parrot Christopher Hitchens.

More importantly, what is that thing that other Christians keep getting wrong that you need to correct them on? Something about the nature of the Trinity isn't it?

Correct. If you've ever had anaesthesia you basically go to sleep one second and wake up the next second although several hours on earth have passed. No dreaming, no consciousness just an empty void that you aren't even aware of when you're in it. That nothingness in between is death.

Religion and afterlife was invented to give people purpose because the reality is depressing, so the OP is somewhat right. Humans are like computers, once the harddrive dies all the data is erased forever. Does data have an afterlife too?

The only hope of an 'afterlife' is only going to be achieved by science being able to do to humans what they did to data (e.g. cloud computing), which will happen eventually, spawning the Singularity.

Dear lord, do some research on what is a properly basic belief, then get back to me. If you can understand what it means by a properly basic belief, then you’ll understand why your argument doesn’t make any sense.

As I’ve said before. The only logical conclusion for atheism is nihilism.

Agnostics are the ultimate cuck copers. You want to try and balance along the line as if to hedge your bets, instead of actually doing any type of study on the matter and making your decision.

Those who “believe in a higher being, but not anything specific”, are the biggest liabilities to Christians. Its like they are fooling people in to believing they support religion, but they don’t care enough to help defend the rights and freedom of religion. They are the indifferent group that would turn their backs on Christians just as fast as atheists because they have no stake in it and would choose safety over sacrifice
