So geographical location and cultural circumstances dictates morality and ethics? You are arguing social constructionism; “The system made me this way, therefore my wrongdoings are ok and completely normal”. If a boy raised by Muslims grows up to be a tyrant that beheads people, he’s moral because he was born in to that situation? This is basically the same argument Marx used. It’s along the same lines that a victim is justified in becoming a tyrant.

Morals and ethics are universal. We are all responsible for our own decisions, regardless of where you are from. A tyrant is still a tyrant and a moral person is still a moral person. True Heroism is someone with the strength to interrupt the status quo. To stand up against evil and unethical behavior when no one else will.

Sympathizing and excusing people that do bad and evil things is not a virtue, nor justifiable. Perhaps this is why y’all need to start reading the Bible more. your atheism is really showing with this rationalizing. you have been indoctrinated to believe this and don’t even realize it Because you have no moral compass. The Bible is a moral compass with the greatest good possible. Without a moral compass, you are destined to have no principles. This is part of the teachings of Hayek and Mises.

It is actually the opposite.

Most people follow religion because they are born into it. Many follow religion because they think it is true.

Many atheists left religion because they cannot cope with following rules or they cannot cope with bad things on earth making them feel sad, so in order to feel better they have to pretend that nothing actually matters.

Maybe he is referring to Mormons. They pay a percentage of all income to the church.

Idk if it is the norm, and I don't ask people church related questions unless they bring up the topic, but I had a classmate with a church that required attendance checks. Basically every time they went to church they have to give a check or donation with their signature to prove attendance and retain membership to keep benefits (like marriage ceremonies and use of hall). My classmate managed to keep attendance because her mom would sign for her and leave a donation for her when she wasn't there. Idk the donation amount required.
