it's not just COD fans. Not everyone is just rating positive franchises they generally like, and rating negative "the competitor". And most people are not thinking BF is worse than COD. There have been criticisms all around.

Seems like the overall consensus for this years outings quality has been: Halo>Battlefield>Call of Duty

Criticizing BF doesn't make you a COD fan boy.

I own every BF game since 1942 first launched(including expansion packs), I've been a massive fan of the series and I've played the chit out of every single one except Hardline, hell I even played a ton of BF1 and BF5, but so far from the beta experience of 2042 I won't be picking it up.

I'll wait till after launch to make my final decision though of course, and there's always the option to spend $15 on EA Pass to play it for a month.

Yeah I found 2042 a bit overly complex but it is without a doubt many levels beyond the COD franchises.

Especially cold war and vanguard. These games look 2 generations old

Longtime CoD player here, and also someone who's never really played Battlefield a lot, although I did play 1943 a lot, and like a tiny bit of them when they had free weekends. Gotta say I'm not overly fond of BF2042. I played the Vanguard Beta, and that was total ass so I'm not getting it. I figured I'd get 2042, but then there's no campaign, and the multiplayer is a mess everywhere, which makes the asking price kind of steep. So instead I'll likely just play Halo Infinite for the year. In terms of the Beta's I've played lately, Halo Infinite takes the cake by a landslide, then Battlefield comes in second, just beating out Vanguard. If the games had to ship tomorrow, Halo was pretty much flawless, whereas BF and CoD had some game breaking issues. Battlefield was different and fun to play, but the map just seemed too overly large for the amount of players on the map, massive gameplay issues for me, and the lack of defined teams was tough to figure out who was bad or good. Then Vanguard was just straight up trash, like someone reskinned Modern Warfare, and somehow made it worse. No bonus points from me for a game that's been copy and pasted, whereas Battlefield was a little more fresh.

With GamePass I'll have Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and a few other games coming. Now I'll have to be really impressed with a game to shell out the $60-$70 bucks to play it, and neither Vanguard or BF2042 really wowed me. The next game I'll probably buy will be CoD Modern Warfare 2 next year, which I think will be a huge game. However, BF2042 was good enough for me to play the 10-hour trial I get with GamePass, so I'll give it an honest shot, whereas you couldn't pay me to play Vanguard.

I have a xfx 6800xt on 1440p and was only hittin 90fps on ultra settings in the beta.

Eh, I think IW really pushed the envelope with Modern Warfare this last go around on the last gen system. The game looked almost next gen then, so imagine what they could do with the current gen. I think with the full development cycle, the new hardware, and the hype around a remake of arguably the best game in the series will be a gold mine. They'll likely tweak some of the issues with Modern Warfare to make it more enjoyable to a lot more people.

What CPU? I think the game was more CPU limited. Also, to my eyes ultra and low looked pretty similar, so I think something is up.

Yep ,watched a few level cap and frag streams

No scoreboard, everything glows

One specialist has armor ,3 don't, lol

Soon as a tornado shows up ,everyone stops playing and flies a chute into the tornado

Nothing enticing to me whatsoever

After the micros start ,they'll fix a few bugs then change the ttk

I remember BF3 beta on Metro, sinking into the ground and a massive amount of other glitches (Explosives not working, getting shot through solid objects, etc.). Played the game at launch and nothing was fixed. Took a few months to iron out the most glaring bugs and some remain to this day.

I wonder how much of a chit show the launch is going to be

I'd be shocked if the game is actually in a good state at launch i.e bugs/glitches/horrible rag dolls/teleporting jets/jittering gunner turrets/EVERYONE IS MCKLAY/poor optimization/underwhelming graphics for "next-gen"

I had fun in the beta, the game can be great, but god damn its in a bad state from the beta we played

Imagine my shock when I find out DICE chit the bed again with another terrible installment of Battlefield.

It's like they write down everyone's favorite features then make sure they aren't added into their new game.

I legit can't fathom WTF they were going for. BRB let's remove the classes in favor of 4 skins in a 128 player game.

I'm waiting to see how they try to PR their way out of this mess

Seems like most of the commenters didn't actually play the open beta. Most fun I've had in over a decade playing a game and that's with 25-40fps most of the time and dropping to 15 during fire fights. Loved how chaotic is was with all the helis and zip lining up towers and whatnot. Tanks and helis didn't seem anywhere near as broken as in bf4. It was buggy and the ui could use some work for sure.

The specialists are the classes. Only medic can revive and only assault has grappling gun. No different from bf4 where only assault can run defibrillator. Only issue with this is they can easily add some pay to win dlc with op specialists.

Also watching someone else play on twitch ain't the same as playing it(no fkin chit).
Looked meh to me as well when i popped in on twitch so see what it was like.

Is this y'all first BF? when was the last time a BF game launched smoothly bug-free? this chit will be playable until next year 3-4 months after release per usual, lol if you thought this was gonna be any different.

BF1942: Desert Combat veteran and big Battlefield fan reporting in. Desert Combat is still my favourite FPS of all time.

This beta was absolute dogchit, and thankfully ran like dogchit on my computer so will save me from buying it come release UNLESS Hazard Zone can redeem it somehow.

The vehicles sucked, flying felt god awful (have hundreds of hours Littlebird in BF3 and BF4) the gunplay sucked, movement sucks, the specialists sucked, scoreboard is some snowflake chit, computer runs BFV on high with no issues but can't this uglier piece of chit lags like a mofo.

I won't bash it on bugs but even if they fixed everything my underlying issue was it simply wasn't fun. I couldn't wait for the beta to be over to uninstall.

On the plus side, all the bugs made for some funny af Reddit posts and clips. On the downside, disappointed but not surprised.

Yep. I quit playing warzone a while back. It’s really disappointing there’s no BR in battlefield. Myself and 4 friends have all canceled pre orders now.

Respawns and starting loadouts takes every ounce of adrenaline out of it. If that’s not geared for casual players idk what is. Nothing wrong with that though, people prefer different games and levels of play.
