Except that's literally what Gruden is being "outed" for. He was not an employee of the NFL when he called Goodell a ****. He was employed with ESPN, unaffiliated with neither the WFT nor the NFL directly. He is quite literally being punished for having private conversations on his own time with Bruce Allen away from the responsibilities of his employment. These were not public tweets, these were not public record, these were emails between friends, and should have no bearing on his employment.

Because the information is already out there, when it shouldn't be. I'm not going to pretend to be a psychologist, but looking at this from a perspective of a guy who absolutely lives eats and breathes football and loves the Raiders I am going to assume that he doesn't want to be a distraction to his organization and his football team. They've got a solid team this year with a chance to make a run, he doesn't want to detract to that and he wants to get out of the spotlight.

I wasn't implying that he was guilty, but questioning his "spine" if he is the tough chucky that we all know and love.
He could have played this off, like 1 famous guy did, as "locker room talk and boys will be boys."

Real talk: I was told very early on what was going to happen with electronic communications so i never signed up for 90% of them.
My information and suspicions were confirmed several times, so in my case there isn't much because***i was warned not to say or type it*** if i didn't want to see it published.

We all know that if they went through the communications of 99% of the league players, coaches, officials, and upper level admin... all of them would be resigning in disgrace. From what has been posted, none of his comments were even that offensive. Football culture is competitive and all about being better than the others around you. There is plenty of **** talking. Saying someone has big lips or calling someone a pha**** behind their back seems like standard operating procedure for any sports locker room.

People will seek the spotlight to feign outrage, but it's all an act.

A public apology for insensitive comments and a promise to do better in the future should be all that is required here.
