Mass hysteria/psychogenic origin is a possibility and should not be ruled out. The microwave angle seems quite far-fetched.

Of note, the media/congress has been known to take certain topics in spurts and run with them with zero skepticism in sight- for example the recent UAP (UFO) business and Rubio/senate intel also demanding to “get to the bottom of it” with all that resulting in an inconclusive report back in June.

But the kicker, which neither the media (example of typical poor journalism) or congress seemed to mention or hint at, was that those navy ufo videos have been long shown to be consistent with mundane objects such as planes or balloons, which they almost certainly are. Not an ounce of proper skepticism in sight with any of that, and people jumping to conclusions of aliens or super-advanced tech from foreign nations, demanding elaborate panels to investigate etc.

Now with the Havana thing, who knows, but the power of suggestion has been known to be a powerful force indeed in humans, and shouldn’t be ruled out.

It's a wiki page of a syndrome, doesnt mean it cant be psychogenic in origin. A good scientific approach will consider all the possible causes. And when you have some rather vague symptoms- headache, brain fog, problems concentrating, sleep problems, and no head trauma involved in the incident.....well psychogenic origin should not be discounted.

The issue is with this being microwave, causing lasting "brain damage",andbeing associated with some sort of noise. The report mentions the Frey effect, but it seems experts are saying that couldnt be the culprit. There seem to be problems with lasting damage via radio waves, or what that would even mean.

There appears to be a study about small differences in white matter compared to control, however not in executive function. One problem though is all kinds of psychiatric disorders such as depression or even things like aging can also result in this- so even that doesnt mean it's not psychogenic.

One thing that does seem to stand out is the analyses of sounds that all came back as insect sounds/crickets. I think the mass hysteria should absolutely be left on the table as a culprit here, and it seems some involved are immediately discounting/biased against the idea (I guess this is "embarrassing" somehow?) without giving it consideration, contra the spirit of science.
