It is over for low-income UKcels in terms of food price

LONDON, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Britain's 20-year binge on cheap food is coming to an end and food price inflation could hit double digits due to a tidal wave of soaring costs that are crashing through the supply chain, Britain’s biggest chicken producer said.

As it emerges from the twin crises of Brexit and COVID, the world's fifth largest economy is facing an acute shortage of truckers, butchers and warehouse workers that has exacerbated global supply chain strains.

"The days when you could feed a family of four with a 3 pound ($4) chicken are coming to an end," Ranjit Singh Boparan, owner of the 2 Sisters Group and known as the "Chicken King" said in a statement.
Hopefully overall it is a net positive as there can be knockoff effects and choices available in other food groups.

Sometimes there aren’t a lot of food options in the first place because UK wanted to get rid of the immigrants and now the struggle is real and UK is asking for EU nationals to come back to UK on 3month visa to be lorry drivers. Then after Christmas Brexiters will tell them to eff off again. Such is life in the UK. But I am an EU immigrant myself so my view may be biased.

No food being delivered:
no need to worry about the prices of stuff we don’t have. Problem solved

I'm pretty open minded about food from other places but British food has always seemed bland.

I do a lot of shopping in Baltic shop and get lots of Eastern European food. However the problem here is that the prices are quite high for fresh options and unprocessed food. Same applies for food in plastic. I have tried to reduce plastic but if you buy 3 peppers in plastic it’s £1 and if you buy 3 without plastic packaging it’s £1.35 which makes no sense

People should spend more of their income on food anyway, £3 cage raised, soy fed chicken. Miss me with that chit.

Most people spend way too much on booze and goong out and too little on decent food.
