Do you guys know any good way to stop getting so much advertising stuff in your mail?

I'm tired of the constant ads, having to tear off my name and address and shred that and recycle the rest.


Any useful way to stop this that any of you have actually successfully used?

Essentially, I was told it's a good habit to shred that stuff. I could be wrong though?

Not that this will stop it but my solution is an option. At my neighborhood entrance is a cluster mailbox where everyone's box is. There is also a box for out going mail. When I get a bunch of Ads I rip off my address so they can't identify me and shove that chit right in to the outgoing mail slot.

I have a ton of mail with account numbers and my name all over them. I bought a shredder and shred them with all my paper pay stubs. At 1st I would burn the shredded paper in my backyard when I would be outside relaxing by a fire. It's actually a hassle to throw handfuls of paper on a fire that then smoke and stink. So I would throw the whole box of shredded paper and cover my pit with the lid and hang out until I could go inside. I would come check it out in the morning and it would be a huge smoldering mess with ash blowing everywhere. So now I have a few years worth of shredded paper in my basement in boxes by my shredder probably being a dangerous hazard in case of some fire.
