Anyone actually buy a treadmill or other cardio device for home?

Was looking into Treadmills and there's some quality ones on Amazon for less than $500. Cheaper than I thought tbh.

I end every workout with a short 10 mins on a treadmill, usually only going a mile or so. Sometimes I wanna go longer, and always feel physically able to, but just don't want to extend the gym session. Hours go by, maybe I'm working from home or something, and I kinda wanna do a little cardio but not have to go outside to do it, or drive to the gym just to do it.

I think - and I know this is where people waste money is by thinking like this - I would probably add extra 5/10 mins sessions during most of my days, especially the days I don't work out at all, if I had one at easy access. Just pop on a podcast/movie/tv-show and jog or run.

What's the misc think? Anyone buy anything like this? Was assembling difficult? Does it just gather dust?

Yeah, this is pretty true. I have an eliptical in my garage that I've never used, but picked up because it was free.

I had a treadmill that I picked up for $25 - someone was moving and didn't want to move it, but i got water in my basement a few years ago and it ruined the motor. My ex-wife has one that she wants me to take out of her basement and my parents have one they want me to move out of my garage. I'll get one or the other when it's too cold to run outside, but running outside is 100% better than on a treadmill, and free soooooo....

I’d rather do cardio at the gym.

Most cardio home equipment turns into expensive clothes hangers.

Fair play to those who do cardio at home though.

Disagree tbh. Yes you get Vitamin D from the sun, which is the big pro in my eyes for running outside. But it's hot/humid in my area, rains a lot, and everyone is always walking dogs in my neighborhood which sketches me out. Freakin hate being barked at and alerting dogs.

We have an older expensive NordicTrac treadmill

but the motor tends to hitch a little
not smooth like gym treadmills. Makes me wonder if this is something cheaper treadmills tend to do

you'll get tired of it. waste of money. it'll just end up as a huge as space hog in your crib or yard.

if you want to do some cardio at home, do some "tabata" HIIT burpees/squat thrusts, or get bas ruttens mma tapes and do squat thrusts between the combos.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.

Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

Picked up a used Airdyne a few years ago. I really like the versatility. Works equally well for HIIT or LISS and gives you full body by involving arms, too. With noise cancelling headphones you can watch a show pretty easily unless you're really going hard.

I initially bought a used one in order to have some time to evaluate whether it would actually get used, but I'm convinced now and would buy an Assault Bike if the old one died.

I have a treadmill that is 20 years old and I use it frequently when the weather is not nice enough to do my cardio outside. I hate doing cardio at the gym so have usually done it at home. As others mentioned look on FB marketplace or craigslist for free/low priced ones.

Even if you've got to leave your house and run(who cares if it's hot outside or if it's raining) **** that...do what you need to do . Sacrifice ***.

I purchased a stationary bike. It even folds up for out of the way if needed. Works pretty good and even husbands jumps on it for a quick cardio session if he’s going to lift weights in the garage. It’s perfect for the days it’s over 100°F or raining outside.

same.
it's a solid treadmill also with elevation and different programs.
free because it was someone's clothes rack.
have only had to lubricate and adjust the track on it.

going to the gym just for cardio seems lame to me.
warm weather i can walk or bike.
cold - treadmill.

could be the track needs lubricant.
mine started out with a stutter here and there then graduated to going too fast or too slow.
lubricating under the track (never knew it needed this) fixed it up.
there is a certain type so it doesn't degrade the track.

Bought one before from Costco, think @$900. It took up space and wasn't used. I just go to the gym. Where I live now, there is a walking/running trail that is scenic.

Or instead of paying $$$$$$ for a treadmill that will cost you even more for space and electricity, try a jump rope. There are weighted jump ropes too.

I have a Max-Trainer 5 and it's hard as chit. I wish it were a little more fitted to my body but it's definitely a very hard workout in itself.

I have an elliptical and a step elliptical. The step is harder and gets more use from my wife and I while my kids use the other one. The treadmill we used to have barely got used being we walked outside more. It took about 2hrs to assemble each machine.

Have a Nordictrac. Going to be getting an elliptical next year. ..

Very convenient when the weather is poor or for when you can't really leave the house (baby, a spouse on the mend, etc).

Careful getting a used treadmill. A failure in the tread or motor at a running pace can be dangerous.

You get what you pay for so I wouldn't go too cheap.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Had one for years and used it all the time. Anything up to about 5 miles.

The draw back for me was it needed a lot of maintenance. The board you run on broke in two twice. It was like $100 to get a new one too plus you have to tear the whole thing doen to get to it.

They also have a little belt that runs the big belt and it needs adjusting too. Agaibm have to break the whole thing down to get to it. Pain in the ass.

They are all pretty much made by the same company if you are looking in the $500 dollar range.

best thing is like someone said above, get a cheapo from craigslist and see how you like it. Remember now, running a mile takes about 10 minutes at a slow pace so maybe another 10 minutes in the gym would be worthwhile.
