What's weird about dying near each other? One of them died first and the other probably tried to wake the dead one up or something for a while and gave up eventually.

Bro here in LA everyone goes hiking on these dumb fukkin trails all summer. You see idiots running around Runyon Canyon with a bottle of Dasani like they're out for a picnic and its 105 lol

For the record Runyon Canyon isn't even in the middle of nowhere its literally the most popular trail here, like 10 minutes from Hollywood lol. Idiots get helicoptered out every single year

An 8yr old double-coated dog in 107 degrees unshaded for miles would have as much trouble as the people. Who is to say that the dog was 100% healthy at 8yrs? Go walk an 8yr old husky uphill in 107 degrees, 100% sun exposure with little to no drinking water.

I wouldn't do it because obviously it would be dangerous for the dog.

If the baby is showing signs of distress it's likely the parents would use some of their drinking water to try and cool the infant, and giving more of the water for the baby to drink instead of themselves. This would leave them dehydrated sooner than later.

Doing this while traveling uphill,too.

A previous forest fire had burned away all the shade that would have otherwise protected them.

HOW ?! I used to play Basketball literally for eight hours a day with my cousin in 114 degree heat in Texas.

Being in the military we went on five mile marches with 90lbs on our back in humid 90 degree heat on the east coast and 100+ in places like San Angelo Texas. RIP, but man, this new generation was not meant to be alive. Too many vaxxs and bubble wrap are keeping people that shouldn't be here alive.

If I was thirsty enough to die, I’d drink running creek water in a instant. I get that they were past the river but if they were so thirsty they felt like they’re about to die, Idk why they didn’t turn around and head to the creek or even drink the little remaining water they had?

This does seem odd. But then again I've been on hikes in 100+ degree weather with minimal water and they were tough but doable.

Add in a baby and a dog and the situation gets a lot harder. You got to remember that the dude was carrying the dog most likely.

Coz you were fit? Many unfit people think they can do all these activities thinking its just walking but their low muscle mass and poor diets make them frail and weak. Its like those people that think they can climb mountains coz its a hike but end up dying.

Lmao I remember I went on a day hike wit the boiz in the Blue Mountains, we made like a custom trail with a lot of elevation so it took all day. Ran out of water towards the end and it was hot as fuarkkkkk, like 105 on a summer day. One of my friends brought extra water and we were rationing that chit. Was getting dark and we thought we wouldn't make it lmao. If it got dark any sooner we were fuked rofl.

Never been so fukin thirsty in my life, we all felt like we were gonna collapse and die.

Always bring more water than you think you need, especially when going with others, chit gets real QUICK if you're amateurs

Yea this is my guess. Maybe felt so guilty about killing their child they decided to just sit there and die.

Pretty fkked up story.

That being said, people are truly fukkin stupid, and I wouldn't put it past anyone to push past the limits of safety for the sake of doing something that they could potentially share on social media for likes. Not sayin this is what happened but it easily could be.

Done a ton of hiking in the Sierras, and people without water, or with a single quart between two people, is much more common than people with an appropriate amount of water.

Surprised this doesn't happen more often.

Have hiked all over the Bay Area while carrying beer, zero water, dogs, and tripping on acid for much more than 8 miles how did they manage to die? It’s not the Sahara desert.

My husband goes solo backpacking all of the time and even took our daughter hiking often in one of those backpacks, but it was a crowded trail and he was a seasoned hiker.

Although once he did run out of water solo backpacking and hit the SOS signal on his GPS, so I was on the phone all night with the search and rescue and they kept him out there until the morning when they could rescue him with a helicopter. Crazy story but true.

I went on 3 backpacking trips with him and we ran into bears, once it was hunting season as that was before he knew what he was doing. It can be scary out there.

But I think day hikers are the worst because they aren't prepared with a water filter and food.
