Cryptocurrency and taxes... what the actual fuk?

So the IRS sees crypto as property and not a currency. Does no one see how insanely fukked up that is? That means the us gov is terrified of crypto. Congress people, banks, even that guy who made Citadel hedge fund. That means they are holding onto the us dollar desperately. They need complete control and surveillance of your money. Centralized currency is tyranny, no?

How can you treat crypto as property like a stock? That means they will use violence to go after crypto people for not paying taxes. And by taxes I mean capital gains taxes, one of the most back breaking taxes out there. Its not enough they tax your income, they double dip when you use your already taxed income to evade inflation by buying crypto. Even just exchanging one coin for another IS A FUKKING TAXABLE EVENT WHAT THE FUK

spend 183 days in puerto rico one year when you sell and you pay no tax

this only applies if you have real gains to worry about, not some $10k tax**** bill

im still a decade from selling if ever, so i don’t worry about it too much.

Same thing with buying/selling gold, silver, or foreign currency. Luckily it's taxed at the capital gains rate, which is lower than your regular rate. Also, if you hold for over a year, depending on your tax bracket, you could get away with zero tax or only paying 15%.

Did u know Singapore has no capital gains tax?

Not really a mystery why their per capita GDP is 5x higher than neighboring nations.

Motivate your citizens to invest, and you will see economic boom.

Tax consumption if u need infrastructure revenue.

If you're not hodling until the dollar hyperinflates and crypto is the only usable medium then you shouldn't be touching it.

There is no reason to buy dollars with your bitcoin right now.

This makes sense, but that means people and the crypto industry has to become huge and take over the dollar as tender. That means theres a point where the guys at the top are going to violently try to stop that from happening, no?

I was loling hard when coincels were hailing Trump for appointing Brian Brooks as COO of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as if he was going somehow come in the government and pave the way for the coincel revolution and all he did was immediately write the legislation that OP is being phucked in the azz by right now as if that outcome was obviously predictable when they appointed a coincel legal expert to run the how the government relates to currency affairs.
