One thing to add though is that if you're planning to live with your LTR, and you're in a common law area, you can be considered married and have similar penalties as in divorce should things go South, srs. Technically worse than a marriage because there's no prenup in a common law marriage haha. So if you live with your LTR, might want to marry anyways in a common law area.

Other than those specific things, marriage doesn't really have much benefit srs. It's expensive (wedding, rings, honeymoon, anniversaries, counseling/therapy, divorce).
