Actionable advice to improve life thread (gonna make it misc)

Semi follow up to feeling like chit thread

Plans
-get part time job
-spend lots of time in the library instead of dorm to do online classes

(Apparently the library has a significantly reduced capacity and distanced seating areas so it’ll be harder to meet people/girls here)

-find some occasional volunteer work
-hang out with new buddies

Focus on goals.

Even if its chit time for you think of the positives. Every day above ground walking around is a winning day.

Yeah, I suppose that's true, as long as you're moving forward and can move forward. No rotting mate, otherwise you're not even alive.

Das it mane.

If I could go back in time I'd tell my younger self that I don't regret being an education-focused incel in my early twenties / late teens. Graduated with a Bachelor's in Comp Sci and feel very ahead of a lot of people I knew in terms of career/finances. Don't regret the part time job too because it avoided some extra debt I'd probably have.

Eat clean, exercise, studymax, have an income, and you'll be just fine OP.

you need to set specific realistic goals. what exactly are they? what exactly do you want to accomplish? if you don't know where you want to be how do you expect to get there?

This is true. But I remember feeling overwhelmed by the idea when I was in college. I didn't know what company I wanted to work for, what specifically I wanted to do with my degree, etc. Funny enough, all potential ideas of what my career might look like between ages 18-22 ended up being very distant/far from what I actually ended up doing. I expected to be a programmer, software developer of sorts, maybe even making video games or doing database work. But nah ended up going into cyber security. But happy to say I ended up having a good income that's above average for my age/area.

Leaves fall where they may. But you can influence the trajectory a bit if you focus on the foundational things. Choose and complete a degree relevant to your interests, build connections that may help you out with landing a job, etc.

Steps to Success

1. Set clear-cut, defined, lofty goals, with specific time deadlines, and let everyone know what they are.
2. Always be realistic, skeptical, and never too optimistic. Banish wishful and hopeful thinking. Hope is not a strategy.
3. Get your priorities straight and live them every day.
4. Focus on actions, not words.
5. Always stay organized. Utilize a Calendar and a To-Do List.
6. Always stay focused on completing your goals.
7. Figure out the things that you need to get the job done and get them.
8. Utilize ALL available resources.
9. Prepare - and make your life easier.
10. Take care of the downside and the upside will take care of itself.
11. Maximize your options.
12. Deliver the goods. Just get the job done - no matter what it takes.
13. Don’t be afraid to take smart chances - and educated risks - sometimes you just got to go for it. Fortune favors the bold and the brave!
14. Plan your work and work your plan.
15. Do tasks as soon as they hit you, then they never build up and overwhelm you.
16. Continually monitor and evaluate your progress in accomplishing your goals and take corrective action if needed.
17. Use whatever angle you have.
18. Realize that there’s a back door into anything, but few take advantage of it. Use the back door if the front door is locked!
19. Don’t make excuses for your success or failure - realize that it’s all up to you.
20. Understand that everything has a price - nothing in this world is free. Success does not come without sacrifice.
21. Understand that nobody can do it for you - you have to do it yourself.
22. Surround yourself with successful people. Especially those more successful than you. Avoid the losers.
23. Learn from others who are where you want to be. COPY from them! Don’t try to reinvent the wheel! COPY from those that are successful!
24. Be very careful of who you trust.
25. Be loyal and good to those who have been loyal and good to you.
26. Help and teach others along the way to be successful.
27. Get ready for change. It’s coming whether you like it or not – sometimes how and when you least expect it. Anticipate and prepare for it.
28. Understand that life will throw you curveballs – it’s all part of the game. You will be humbled at some point. We are all humbled at some point.
29. Know when to cut your losses.
30. Know when to pivot.
31. Ask all the questions – don’t go into anything blind.
32. If you get knocked down, get up and keep fighting!
33. Keep an open mind on everything. Closed minds never learn.
34. Learn from your mistakes and don’t repeat them!
35. Always think about the future but try to enjoy and appreciate the moment. Life is short.

It's a difficult game to get good at. The fun for me is becoming better at a game 99.9% of people suck at. I've played many sports at a decently high level, nothing comes close to the skills and mechanics involved in being a good golfer. And it's a sport you can play the rest of your life, and might as well get good so you can mog all the old fkers when you get older.

I thought of it the same as you until I started playing earlier this year. Addicting game if you have a competitive drive.

Focus on career mogging. I did that and it’s actually brings me quite a bit of happiness knowing how far I’ve come and that there’s still so much more room to grow.

Lots of good and specific advice above. I'll be a bit more general.

Ultimately, you have to learn the recognize the difference between choices that lead to short-term pleasure versus choices that result in long-term happiness. Too often, people choose things that will give them pleasure in the moment but are contrary to long-term happiness. An indulgence can be fine within limits, but if your whole life is indulgence, happiness will be hard to find. I think a lot of the problems we have can be boiled down to that pleasure/happiness choice comparison. People make bad choices with everything from eating and exercise to relationships and sex.
