Mindblown at how good the algorithms are getting

Cliffs:

Earlier today was burning some brush in my yard

Noticed a fuzzy caterpillar spazzing out close to the pile shortly after lighting it( it had been in it but apparently got somewhat far away)

Brushed it far enough away but kind of thought it was a goner

Kept an eye on it and it cooled down and appeared to live so I moved it to a legit area of the yard for a caterpillar

An hour later briefly mentioned it to my kid. No conversation, basically just mentioned I saved a caterpillar after stating the fire and that was it.


Just now scrolling ******** and they recommend a channel/group by showing a video of someone moving a caterpillar to a safe area in their yard.

Yeah, it’s known that there are apps which request access to your mic and will listen to you. But I check regularly and just confirmed that I’ve not selected any to get access to my mic((iPhone 10) but they’re obviously getting it from somewhere so the settings are a farce to make people feel like they have input regarding what can listen to them and what can’t.


The crazier sh!t is when they show something related to what you have thought about but haven’t talked about. Like the Machine Learning is starting to accurately predict what you’re thinking about based on what it knows regarding what you’ve typed in and/or talked about.

They didn’t show a caterpillar, they searched through billions of videos and found one of someone doing the exact same thing I did based on a single sentence where I said something along the lines of “I almost killed a caterpillar when I started it but I moved it away”.

The only way to avoid it is to go off grid and remove yourself from technology. I'll never do that, but it's a fairly true statement nonetheless.

Trust me happens a lot more than you think. Just talk while your phone is on about certain products or movies, etc...Youtube starts recommending you videos on it.
