Does covid actually kill people? (srs)
This lady asked me if I was vaccinated and wouldn't come near me if I wasn't. (Was in a tight laundry area)
Wtf. I never even met her and she's asking about my medical history
Then she says my dad died of covid, that's why Im being cautious
She wanted me to move 6 feet away before she would come near the area. srs

It's my choice to get sick and die, if the vax works for you you should be protected. if it doesn't work, shut the fuk up!!!

in general libs are too busy leeching off society and have less going for them and thus latch on to any fear mongering they can in order to give their lives fulfillment and purpose. they further their self-inflicted agenda by claiming so and so dIeD oF cOvId in a way to give themselves and their agenda credibility and cause.
meanwhile in red states, where people arent so as dependent on the gub'mnt and actually work for a living, people dont need or want that kind of embarrassing pitty.
two totally different kidns of people and mindsets.

Also I never met more people who's family died of covid than before I moved to a lib area. Conveniently they always tell me about it after mentioning my need to be masked/vaccinated

Most deaths Covid related are not from the virus itself. Covid makes pneumonia a lot easier to catch. Most Covid patients end up dying from pneumonia.

Everyone I know who caught covid said it was mild symptoms like loss of smell or just the flu.

IMO some unknown number of people didn't so much die from COVID as from poor treatment/mis-treatment because starting out we didn't know any better. Now a lot more is known, but denied.
But the lady you met?
Anxiety. A fairly high number of people struggle with an anxiety disorder anyway. Then dump an unending fire hose of fear porn spewing from every media platform + a personal loss = poor thing is scared to death.
Just lie OP.
I don't like lies. When I know that I'm being lied to I really hate it. But in this case it is harmless and a kindness.
- vaccinated people can get infected and spread the virus
- unvaccinated people can get infected and spread the virus
- vaccination at least seems to reduce your odds of being hospitalized/dying, though for healthy people the risk is already low
I have an aunt who is/was? super scared of the virus. She wore a mask everywhere and even after she was double vaxxed she was paranoid about having much contact with people. Now she has actually had COVID herself and survived. Made her mad that "I did everything right and still got it".
The people who put their faith in the all powerful never gonna die vaccinestillare a lost cause.
My in-laws pressured me steadily to get vaxxed and get my daughter vaxxed. Just spoke with them recently and was told that "our former foster daughter was vaxxed and she had the COVID and it was very hard on her; her unvaxxed kid brought it home from school". They don't focus on the kid being absolutely fine, or that the mom is fine, or that the mom got sick even though she had the vaccine- their take away is that my daughter and I need to get vaxxed.

No, covid has never killed anyone.
It's just a big show concocted by the government in order to force people to get injections with micro chips in them to track you.

Unfortunately people are extremely black and white about this. Either “covid is going to kill us all” or “nobody dies from covid and vaccines do nothing”

It's classified by the FDA as an "orphaned disease", or a disease that does not affect a very significant portion of the population.
That is the only reason they were able to get a rushed FDA approval, because drugs for orphaned diseases get hastened FDA approval for sale.
The mortality rate is already well below 1%, but even that number is vastly inflated by false positives, deaths attributed to COVID-19 posthumously without testing, and deaths of positively tested patients from other causes.
Antigen tests, according to the FDA, can have a 70% rate of false positives. You can see how all these factors, combined with typical media misrepresentation of science, have led to a general climate of fear and uncertainty.
So no, COVID-19 is not something that people should be concerned about, and this is why PhDs, out of all education levels, are the least likely to rationalize taking the vaccine.
Here are sources to back up these facts, not from a conspiracy site or some political pundit, but from the mouths of government doctors and the academic medical community itself.

It can kill older people and those with severe comorbidities
It can hospitalize and kill or almost kill 50/60-somethings even in the absence of apparent/unusual health issues
It can kick the crap out of and potentially hospitalize 30/40-somethings even in the absence of apparent/unusual health issues
People who react badly tend to spend a long ass time in the hospital before deteriorating or recovering. I have an extended family member, 50-something and seemingly healthy, who just got off ECMO last Tuesday after spending 9 fukking weeks on it. He and his wife legit just moved from Nevada to Texas before he was hospitalized, and you might be able to guess some of the reasons they made that move.

Either way, if she cares about covid she can wait till you're done, but it's her right and it's her problem not yours.

On the first interactive graph, you can filter for United States and see a clear trend of death increases that is curbed quite a bit after the first initial and most drastic lockdown procedures, spiking at thanksgiving, and dropping off after the vaccine introduction, followed by a surge due to the delta variant that seems to stabilize across regions.

Some viruses are super deadly but don't spread very far, some viruses spread far and wide with ease but are dangerous only in very rare situations. This combination of a novel virus that spreads far and wide and then wreaks havoc on its target group, that is a 1-in-100-year type of event
