Stopped lifting for the past six weeks or so...
No more joints hurting, actually fewer aches and pains. Was wondering why I should even start again.
Then tonight I went hunting with a buddy and his 20 year old son and shot a deer. I dragged that deer 3/4 mile through some crazy terrain faster than either could walk behind me.
Feltgoodman.
Gotta get back in that gym boyos. Let the gains begin.
Anyone else stopped for a while and just had to get back at it after a bit? I feel like at 35 if I stop completely I'll eventually wither into a giant weak ass pussy.

Don't lift for your ego and you will be fine.

I think I'm going to get back to some decent enough numbers and just maintain them.
Then focus more on conditioning and cardio, something I've always put off

Bro am about to go deer hunting again, finally got my ass out of the city and back innawoods.
I bet I could carry a buck on my shoulders frontier style now that I've been working on my gains, we used to just pull up a truck to the blind clearing.
I lifted in 5th grade through high school, quit, then got back into it last year. I don't get aches and pains, but I might when I get older.
Maybe taking longer breaks between workouts so you don't strain yourself, getting those hypertrophic gains from resting after training.
I was thinking about getting into hog trapping, they are invasive down here and have no closed season or bag limits.
Down in Texas they will load up in helicopters with night vision and M4s just to hunt hogs, it's nuts.

I'm on a one month hiatus because I broke my hand. Looking at the positive side and telling myself that it will be good for me to take a bit of time off but cotdam it still infuriates me not to have that physical outlet in my life because I just immediately go full degen and rinsemax constantly because I am an endorphine addict.

Sorry bout the hand.
And main reason for my hiatus is I am just too damn busy this time of year. The fall is when all the fun stuff happens. In the office for 7, leave work early at 4, hunt till dark, then night walleye fishing till 9... then home, briefly recall what my wife looks like, then repeat lol

I've been slacking the past month myself for various reasons. Maybe getting in 2 sessions per week. I done chest last week and struggled putting the same weight up for 6 reps that I was pumping for 12 just 6 weeks prior. I'll kick it back off with a nice chest session tonight. No missing days from now until xmas boyo.

Ijust began a 6 weeks weight lifting avoidance requirement. I had an operation. I'm to stay away from weights for 1 and a half months.
I'm missing lifting. It would be nice to pick up some weights this morning. But I'm not wanting to do the operation again so I'll wait.

Stop stressing your body with heavy compound lifts if you are not a professional. Stop listening to internet experts telling you how it's good for you. When you will get a herniated disc you will regret it your whole life. Train and lift weights for health, do lots of cardio.

Take regular deloads and I take a week off every 5 months or so, you need
don't quit cold turkey, you'll regret
and you shouldn't be feeling pains and aches, maybe you're doing too much volume or you're training like a powerlifter.

So I was taught how to lift from my father at age 14 and had some high school coaches who gave me tips and pointers as I got older. The biggest takeaway was to lift not for ego but for longevity. For me that was to stay in the gym using 65% of max for improvement but not maxing out often. Your joints, tendons and ligaments will thank you for the next 20 years.....
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

I switched to landmine press and it is pain free. Lateral raises are fine for some reason.

As for lifts, right now they are total chit, but within a few months I could be back to where I was a year or so ago, which was
Bench 225 for sets of 5-6
Squat 300 for sets of 5
RDL 300-320 ish for sets of 8
6'-2, 240 ish.
Chest 51"
Waist 37" (fking wife makes food that is just too delicious.)
Arms 18.25"
What I changed from the F5 U/L intermediate is I do more chinups, and lost some isolation leg work because I don't have a decent leg curl/extension.

You tried bone broth/collagen supplements?
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.
The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."
The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

Is that a thing that works? Only supplements are protein when I cant eat meat regularly in a day.
Creatine on and off when I am focused and consistent, and krill oil. The krill oil is recent though.

yeah brah, it's good for your body to take some time off. You're only human and you need time to heal, especially if you lift heavy and train till failure all the time. I've taken several weeks off and just not having the constant tight feeling, soreness and inflammation made me feel really good. I did a lot of stretching and cardio during my break and I felt like a new person srs. Plus not stressing about eating and squeezing the gym into my routine was nice.
Might feel strange going back but after a few weeks, you'll be caught up. I think like others have said, don't worry too much on heavy ass weight. Go for longevity and actually exercising. It's therapeutic and good for you, although I know you're already pretty active outdoors.
