My Experience With ADHD Meds And My Alternative

I want to make this quick.

I got put on meds at 16. Before meds (amphetamines) I could hyper focus on what I was interested in like guitars or computer programming type activities. After meds I lost that ability. I truly believe that that was a unique gift I had that I just needed to learn how to use and now I no longer have that ability, instead its just hard to focus all of the time.

The thing with amphetamines or any type of med is that it artificially raises your dopamine levels but yo ur brain compensates for that by creating more receiving receptors so that even though your brain is now creating more dopamine, the dopamine is leaving your brain just as fast because it has more receiving receptors to go to.

Once you stop meds you still have more receiving receptors so you are left worse off then you started.

Ok so what do you do about lack of focus then? Well can you not focus because the subject is boring? Then maybe your brain is telling you you need something more challenging. Tbh I am a fairly smart guy and normal stuff is boring for a reason, its not because I had a brain problem its because I was a smart and creative kid that needed to be making music or building computers not learning boring crap in school.

Alright back to the question what to do about lack of focus (lol ADHD tangent above).

OK here are some things I have learned. Your diet plays a huge roll in taming the beast. If you have the ADHD mind then eating food that causes inflammation in your brain will exasterbate the problem big time. Things like high fructose corn syrup has been none to cause distraction. Thats because it causes inflamation in the brain which results in lack of ability to focus. The same can happen through artifical flavoring and colors. If you are eating foods you are allergic to and dont know it like dairy or eggs or nuts or gluten, you can also get inflammation. Its just that your brain is extra sensitive and that little inflamation causes you to lose your ability to focus. It takes work to figure it out but you can get an alergy test for the dairy and egg type things and avoid the artifical sugars and colors ect.

Alright tip #2 watch your dopamine levels. First of all do a dopamine fast for one day and you will learn all you need to know. Google it. Avoid all electronics and anything that causes a dopamine spike for one day and you will feel like your going crazy for that day but the very next day you will be able to focus like a lazer beam.

The reason is because social media, youtube, video games, misc, ect floods your brain with dopamine and trains your brain to expect a new dopamine flood every 2 seconds or so. Then after several hours per day of this flooding of dopamine every 2 seconds you try to work on something like learning something borning and you just cant donit because your brain is wired to see half naked chicks every 2 seconds or a cute cat every other2 seconds.

I know people who run online businesses and they purposly never play video games or ******** or anything while they are in grind mode becuss they know thier work can not compete with the rush of dopamine they get feom video games so they just dont do it.

There are levels to it but i suggest experimenting starting with a full on dopamine fast for one day, again google it, and try to learn how to work with your dopamine levels.

Just being aware of how your dopamine levels and how your brain works puts you in better control.

Hoepfully that guy who made that other thread will see it.

Btw i copied my post so you may as well leave the thread up and not suckel the tit of big pharma by deleting it. If somebodys brain is getting destroyed by amphetamines this can be a major help.

You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.

Alternative is to avoid artificial things in food like high fructose corn syrup and artificial coloring, as well as get an food allergy test because inflammation in the brain causes ADHD.

Monitor your dopamine levels. If you are flooding your brain with dopamine through porn, social media, youtube, misc, ect every two seconds then trying to focus on something boring you are not going to be able to focus. Some highly successful people go as far as to avoid them all together.

Do a dopamine fast for a day. One day is literally all it takes. I do one every sunday.

Bonus tip:

Take NOW calcium/magnesium. A high quality b vitamin I use peter gillhams b-100 complex (only half a pill) and a little vitamin c asorbic acid from whole foods but any asorbic acid will work three times per day after meals to help get off the meth pills. It makes the withdrawls (from anything) much easier because you are giving you brain what it needs to heal itself and prevent it from spazzing.

you give yourself a break from things that give you short term bursts of pleasure: refreshing and scrolling the internet, junk food, video games, cell phone, porn, etc.

i think it would take longer than a day though to fix your brain if it's messed up from constant stimulation.

That is only temporary. Receptors were upregulated during medication use and they downregulate over time after medication is stopped.

this can be heavily mitigated when using by supplementing in Inositol and L-Thyrosine.
