So far, this game has been rather boring. It just falls flat for some reason and it never feels exciting. Menu system seems like absolute chit as well for picking classes. Have had more fun playing portal on BF3 and BC2 modes than 2042 but still just doesn't quite capture the charm of those games. Seems they took away the sliding mechanic as well which was one of the few new things I liked. And usually BF games have great sound that make the action feel more intense but everything is just soft. Even the tanks and explosions just don't give you that punch. Gonna try to get into this more with different modes but with Halo and Forza out this game is going to take a back burner for a while.

Edit* Seems there is still sliding, seems less pronounced but its still there. Must have been in a portal mode with it switched off.

Bummer.. since BF4 there has been no online FPS I've liked and now seems the drought will be extended for me, at this point I might call it quits for the genre.

NGL, I'm actually pretty upset that BF2042 is a total chitbag. BF4 is GOAT, BF1 was good too, though I started noticing changes in another direction. BF5 can get phucked, and I hope the devs hang off of a highway bridge for what they've done with 2042. It's not even in the same category as BF3 or 4 anymore.

As someone who played the beta, it's way better than the beta. The beta had many more glitches, my most hated one was how elevators were non-functional. They've fixed that. I heard those who played day 1 of early access (Nov 12th) had many connection issues, especially with Crossplay enabled. I didn't play until Nov 13th and found zero issues so far of the sort, even with crossplay turned on.

Not a perfect game. Lack of voice chat, lack of "all chat", lack of proximity notices to those who require revives, and some other things, are annoying. But it's a work in progress, and some of those things are confirmed to being worked on / fixed soon anyways.

I enjoy the game so far.

Every Battlefield I've ever played SUCKED for the first like month. Then it gets better when there's less people wrecking the servers, and as patches are implemented. That's how every Battlefield I've ever played has been, srs. A clunky mess at launch, and a whole other experience months later.

I'll keep playing it. I enjoy it. Hard Zone is my most favorite mode so far. I bet I'll like Portal too when I try it.

It's not just the size but how bare everything is. There's hardly any vehicles, if you spawn someone and have to run two minutes to another flag, you're just cannon fodder the whole time for enemy vehicles, there's hardly any cover anywhere.

Exactly how I feel. The game will get way better with patches/fixes/balancing.

Tbh games have always been like that the only difference is now developers can release updates to improve the game.

Back in the day games often had huge bugs and glitches and nothing could be done about it but we didn’t complain because we were younger and didn’t know any better. Now we have so much choice and availability, our demand and expectations have sky rocketed

You very rarely had a game launch with any noticeable bugs until the ps4 era came about

People had to look up cheat codes to find "bugs" for 30 years & those were designed on purpose

lol, battlefield 1 was still fun as phuck to play even if they had glitches and bug, the core gameplay was fun, remember that bf 1 beta on that desert map?

here in 2042 the core gameplay elements and "feel" are lacking severely.

battlefield V is great now but it took several patches to get here and even then the things that people complained about in BF V was nowhere near whats currently happening with 2042

So disappointed, didn't have high hopes but was wanting it to be decent at least. Not into MP anymore but massive battles with the bots seemed like it might have been great. May still grab it to kill time.

Worth it to just play bots as a time killer or nah?

Watching more gameplay, fck it, I'll just get the $90 edition so I can play the next few days, got the itch and it looks 'ok' enough for me. Not too hardcore into gaming as I used to be but I always loved the earlier BF games, stopped playing at 3 though Bad Company 2 was the GOAT.

Worst case I waste $90 which is meh.

$90 for half a game?

$90 would be justifiable if it was actually good AND had a campaign mode as well as multiplayer.

There hasn't been a multiplayer-only Battlefield since the days of, what, Battlefield 2 lol

(EDIT: Okay, there was apparently Battlefield 1943 which I didn't know about - was there? - but that was like over a decade ago and a few years after Battlefield 2)

Have 24 hours from initial launch to decide if I want to refund, should be plenty.

Edit: Few games in, having fun, AI could be better for sure but not bugs for me yet. Biggest complaint so far is the lack of real destruction, I liked being able to demolish houses and stuff in the older games.

Edit 2: Seems bot kills are not counting towards weapon unlocks, either a bug or they disabled it to stop the portal farming; that would be a refund from me if that's the case. Can't seem to find a solid answer on it.

Play portal and goto the Bad Company 2 mode. It's actually pretty decent if you enjoyed that.
