Life-hack (car stereo)

For 2/4.x stereo systems, shift the balance a bit to the right to center your audible perception of your car stereo.

For 3/5.x, shift it a bit to the left...

Make sure to change it back when you have passengers in the car because it actually skews it the wrong way for them.

So if I have 14-speaker 5.1, I shift it to my side of the car? Can you explain why? I would always think you'd shift it to the right to balance your perception.

I usually fade it to the back so I can hear stuff outside a little better if needed.

If you're driving on the left side of your car, then the sound is overrepresented on the left. If you have a center speaker then it is overrepresented on the right. The idea is to correct so that the sound is surrounding your left/right equally.
