[QUOTE=HMFIC_BROWSIN post_id=1651036163]Copied, and saved.
u do realize nvidia did $10.92b in 2020, and now cleans $7b in one quarter?

[QUOTE=Carbonfibre post_id=1651036233]You do realize that Nvidia isn't going to scale up infinite.

[QUOTE=Visel post_id=1651038273]Long story short, I've lost around $11k or so on RIVIAN total. Last week I went upside down $8.3k because I bought into it at $112.50 within 10 minutes of RIVN going public. Then day 1 it dipped into the $90's and I panic sold thinking I wasn't gonna get my money back. I also tried playing options this week on it, doing a call order that went terrible, going under about $3k or so.
Timing the market, for me, has been absolute chit.
Been feeling like absolute chit ever since, srs.
This week I bought NVIDIA Call Orders for Nov 19th, and although I unfortunately didn't sell at the top, I didn't do too bad. Bought 10 x Nov 19 $305 for $5800 total, sold for $14,870. Also bought some longer term (March 2023) calls that I flipped for around $1500 profit. And a short flip or two on some NVIDIA calls netting about $1k on top of all of that.
I sold my NVIDIA calls at a measely $14.87 due to panicking. The stock took a major plummet in the first few minutes of being open and I saw my options go from being worth $21 down to $13 within seconds. Scared the chit out of me. Should've held on for like 5 more minutes and I'd be seeing another $4k-$8k profit on top of that, phark.
So RIVN = $11kish in losses. NVIDIA = $11k-12kish in profits. Who would've thought attempting to time the market brings me to close to $0 in proft/losses? LOL
I currently have some NVIDIA shares in my portfolio as well that I don't plan on ever selling, at least not for some years, been buying NVIDIA shares slowly over the course of the year. Definitely made thousands off of those too in unrealized gains.
This is my first year trading so I'm trying not to be too hard on myself. Learning more and more about how everything works every day. This is more fun, but also more depressing sometimes too, than my actual job. Over the year my non-retirement brokerage account has gone from $200 to now $44k. Depositing $30k of my own money into that.

AMD seems to be closing the gap on Intel for CPUs in recent years....I think most gamers these days are going AMD Ryzen for their CPUs, but if you're not running nvidia for the GPU you are a peasant...everybody wants nvidia, they always been the king of GPUs in gaming

Did you read the article.

Car with no pedals or steering wheel in 2025.

Good luck finding insurance company for that.

Unless apple will be launching their own iFuneral policy.

Don't get me wrong apple for their phones and cpu chips is forever hold stock but this car headline pop isn't it. This is just algo swinging pop on news.

Didn't read lol

Honestly that's some innovation right there. I bet its going to work too. That's the crazy part. And no I don't like that idea for me personally. But think of the younger generation being afraid of operating a gas pedal and steering wheel etc? Too much work and dangerous fam I need to look at my phone or take a nap while I'm "driving". Its like how nobody knows how to drive stick anymore.

It was only a matter of time before they all crashed. I ran LCID several times over the past month or two getting out as soon as I got a decent jump. So easy to get burned. I hope it drops back down to around $20. The game may restart though a lot sooner.

At this point I'm considering buying nothing but NVIDIA at some kinda low point.

I know it's biased to say because today NVIDIA is opening and closing at ATHs, but if every dollar got put into NVIDIA since Jan 2021 you'd more than double your money, with 141% gains YTD. Or even crazier, 1260% gains in the last 5 years, imagine 12xing your money today in 5 years time. Granted it did stumble from Q4 2018 through Q1 2020, mostly negative, not hitting any ATHs really during that time.

Save for hitting the lotto on some options or well timed buy and sell of some random stocks, NVIDIA seems like the safest bet that just destroys the market. The only thing holding me back from that is how everyone suggests diversification. So in that case, how about 30% in Tesla, 70% in NVIDIA lol.

recently bitcoin hit an all time high, so everyone who ever invested in it was profitable, and of course bitcoin trashes NVidia when it comes to returns.

It’s not smart to be all in on any one thing especially when it’s at an all time high.

What are you going to do next year when shiet times arrive and all these growth stocks go in the ****ter? You better have some value stonks that give a nice dividend too.

I've debated with myself a lot this year, regarding un-diversifying and putting a larger portion of my funds into tech in general. Right now tech makes up ~24% of my total portfolio. Strongly debating upping that to ~40% (and make NVDA specifically ~half of that).

The same thing holds me back though - "what happens when tech takes a massive dump and you need to rely on other sectors, value stocks, some dividends, etc..?"

Tech, some solid REITs, and a handful of solid-dividend-value-stocks seems like a pretty good portfolio to me, just gotta bite the bullet and let go of a bunch of other stuff my money is in lol.

A part of my motivation to do this is to stop getting all caught up in the trading world and stuff. People always tell those who lack discipline, want growth but not high risk, to just dump it into a fund like the S&P 500 or VTSAX. These are great, but you usually don't see higher than 10%-13%, depending on the years you look at. This current year is an anomaly pushing them closer to 30% YTD. So I think the odds of NVIDIA and Tesla getting higher than 15% are astronomically high enough, based on historics, to just dump money in there and feel good about the random 4 or 5 figures upward movements that happen when they explode.

Maybe it's the gambler in me but I've spent too much time and energy/emotion getting involved with trading lol I'd rather just let it grow on its own sure and steady. Higher than typical mutual funds though. Even if it takes 2 months for shorts and bears to lay off and another earnings report to kick in or another conference, or product release, or merger/deal/whatever.
