Metal brahs what do you think is the best album of 2021?

Is this the best album of 2021, or is there something better?

There's been some good releases this year but Archspire has been the most memorable.

This album was pretty good too tho

I had heard of them, but never checked it out till now. I don't mind electronic deathcore/metal but they aren't really my style

Nice been a while since I listened to Volumes. Looks like they're still going strong after Diego passed away.

I mainly use Bandcamp and Youtube to find new bands. Youtube always recommends me a bunch of new music since I'm subscribed to a few label and promotion channels.

Yeah I agree man, it's been a great year for metal. And I like the bands you posted especially Rivers of Nihil. I still haven't heard the whole album yet but the songs I've heard so far sound really promising.

This album of theirs was really dark, even melancholy in my opinion. Not something I'd listen to on repeat, but front to back it was pretty immersive, even thought provoking. It just kinda draws you in.

If you like rivers, you may have came across these bands too.

Found this album on Bandcamp last week during a random search for atmospheric black. I'm not sure if anyone in this crowd will dig it since you guys are mostly listening to death metal.

It's a supergroup from some Philly metal heads. This album is a mix of grind, post black, goth rock and shoegaze. There are two vocalists; one providing cleans while another does tortured, post hardcore blackened shrieks.

Again, if you aren't into the post-black scene this might not be for you. The entire album has me stunned.

For sure man, I've come across both those bands but never really gave them a proper listen. I recently saw that the Krosis vocalist joined Decrepit Birth, he's definitely got some sick vocals. That Allegeon song is surprising, definitely my kind of metal. I'll have to listen to some more songs by them.

It's definitely got a unique sound. I don't listen to many atmospheric black metal bands. This sounds pretty good although a bit disjointed at times, but I'm sure that's what they were going for.

Yeah plenty of people still do, but it's more underground. To be honest tho death metal has always been underground.

Not very metal but they consider themselves metal and I like about half the album.

Heads up to all the Volumes brahs, the new album came out at midnight and it's a banger all the way through. Perfect balance of songs that's all screaming and songs with catchy singing choruses. Also, new Amity Affliction is decent:
