I couldn't tell you about here since I haven't rented in years.

Back in Montreal I was renting a 2 bedroom duplex with a driveway and shared backyard for 1k.

Sorry, the $2,000 is bare minimum but it stretches between north of San Diego all the way up to Temecula and I would even say up to Riverside. (California).
For some 1 bedroom (not studio) it can go up to $2,600 depending on apartments.

Makes sense. It's so expensive down there.

~1450 2 bedroom apt. Probably closer to 1500 tbh. Bet it'll be drastically different next lease period due to inflation and stuff.

I have a house, but I own a few multis. The 3 bed 2 bath I had fixed up recently is going for 2950 which is market rate for the area (South Pasadena). I literally only put a "for rent" sign up and got 7 people wanting to apply before even seeing the inside lmao

Around here, rent is 1.5x what you would pay for a mortgage on a house at least twice the size. It's like that in most of the country though.

The apartment I had right after college in 2012 was $900. 1br standard size. Now it’s $1700. Insane pricing considering the location.

I think back in the day, my parents were paying $600 rent.

Buy my wife's parents bought a 60K house while her dad was making $60K, but somehow they are broke now.

That's like if I made $500K and bought a $500K house and ended up broke

Paying $1975 for 3bed/3.5 bath townhome in va beach.

Typical run of the mil 2bed/2bath apartments are about 1500 here.

Could probably get by with some chitty apartment for 1200.

Rented back in 2018 for like $2100 a month, 2 beds like 1200sqft. Maybe a bit smaller.

Have a mortgage now so couldn't tell you but if a 1080sqft house is going for $500k I imagine the rent has gotten worse lol
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Just buy a full blown house at that point lol

I had relatives own their home, but they decided to sell and move into $2000 apartments since they thought chit was going to crash the housing market.

Where is that? In California, you will not find anything good under $500K unless you want to live 4 hours away from work (which apparently liberals on city data claim is worth living in CA for)

DFW

$1200 to $1300 for the cheapest average quality [read: not scary] 1 bedrooms
$1600 to $1900 for 2 bed/2 bath apartments

This is Tarrant County. I've read that north Dallas and Collin are a good deal higher.

Actually in NorCal.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/9...ource=txtshare

Just outside Sacramento. Middle of a dusty, dry ass valley so you 're not wrong about location. Lol

It's actually a nice area but yeah, you're not getting the beaches and nightlife.

Thank God we bought in 2019. We broke our lease because the "luxury" aparments we lived at were trash. Had we not broken our lease we'd of been house shopping in august of 2020. No bueno.
