The Witcher 4 Will Start Development in 2022
The news comes via CDPR boss Adam Kicinski himself, who was interviewed by the Polish paper Rzeczpospolita. When asked what the next step for Cyberpunk and the Witcher are, he mentioned that both franchises will embark on their next steps in 2022. According to him, CD Projekt Red is aiming for parallel development
Apparently, this simultaneous production is less of a reason for worry, but more of a good thing: It is a very deliberate decision by CDPR, since it allows them to share assets between the two games. For example, NPC systems or AI might share the same foundation across Cyberpunk and The Witcher.
Now, of course, a lot of you will have their alarm bells going off, since Cyperpunk 2077 wasn't exactly the greatest game of all time, and its bugs... well, they might have just been some of the greatest bugs of all time. Not the award the game wanted, but certainly the award it deserved. We can't do much to dispel these worries, but, for now, we're deciding to be happy that The Witcher 4 is real, and choose to worry about this supposed dual-development later.

I played this absolute **** out of Witcher 3, and loved it to death. Literally started a replay of it as soon as I beat it originally, easily spent ~250 hours on that thing.
I'm legitimately unhappy and not looking forward to W4. There's no way in hell it won't be crap after all the woke BS that's coming out lately, coupled with CDPR's VERY fast fall from grace we all witnessed with Cyberpunk.
They already raped Witcher with the garbage Netflix series. Massacred my girl Triss and Fringilla, etc. Ruined the lore, ****ed up Geralt's character...
Just ****ing leave it alone ffs.

Cant wait tbh.
Witcher 3 is one of the goat games .... and Cyberchit 2077, for all its flaws still has moments of absolute genius and wonder.
They bit off way more than they could chew with cyberchit, but I have faith in them delivering an amazing Witcher experience. My only worry is that they give us a Ciri only game .... Not that I wouldnt love playing as Ciri, but as amazing as she is, I love Geralt too much and I'd rather they try continue with more Geralt or give us a blank template Witcher and let us play as him/her/them hehe.
Also fukkin lol at them going back to their roots to try and save face after the shenanigans they've been pulling with Cyberpunk.

Welp. They're confirming that they're reusing ai and other 0/10 frameworks from CP2077
Witcher4 will be probably the best looking game upon release but riddled with the exact same issues CP2077 has.

+ the fact that they're so wildly off on their CP2077 roadmap that they've completely stopped updating it leads me to believe that all the top talent left and management hasn't been overhauled.

Would love nothing more than for it to be good. Who knows. Stranger things have happened but I’m not holding onto any hope until it releases lol
^^strangely enough CP2077 user reviews have been very positive on steam lately. So maybe some hope for 1.5 and current gen release…last gen never had any hope to begin with.

no multiplayer - not even a eta anymore
no real AI - never going to be fixed
no dynamic storyline - no way they'd rework the game. impossible to fix outside of expansions
no current gen console version - was supposed to release this year, no eta anymore
the game only had bug fixes, stability improvements, and QoL improvements since release. The core issues haven't and won't change. If witcher4 hasthat linear of a storyline, let alone any of the other issues that plagued cp2077, i won't even look into it

Only thing I’ll say about TW4 is that all the witcher stuff they’ve done (including gwent and thronebreaker) are great. So maybe they can get something back on track with that particularly Polish IP. Though if all the talent is gone then it is what it is haha.

I can't believe no one was able to see what a dog chit company CDPR was until 2077.
As if the Witcher 3 wasn't a sewer fire masquerading around as a video game. Horse riding simulator with flash game level combat system and The Disaster Artist worthy dialogue.

I agree with your post in regards to a blank Template Witcher. I don't want to play as Ciri. I want to be a degenerate prostitute banging, 3 girl friends, rum drinking Witcher.
My only gripe, my only dream would be if they had Ghost of Tushima combat. By far the best combat open world game ever.

As someone who played the **** out of TW3 and CP2077... not looking forward to it lol. Most of the GOAT staff had already left by the time CP2077 dropped, they built the CP2077 engine on-rails to turn it into unfixable disaster, they kept using their positive reputation to pay workers less while crunching them and of course, CP2077 is still a ****ing mess one year later... TW4 is setting up to be the last cash grab from the suits before they finish running the company to the ground.
