Front Shoulder Pain

Usually hurts when benching or sleeping on it. Kinda pissed because I recently really improved my bench and have been hitting tons of PRs. I don't think it's a general form issue, I think it's just from pushing heavy or maybe tweaked something on a struggling rep.

I've been doing shoulder dislocates, stretches and rotator warm ups with the bands. Am I gonna make it or is this snap city? It's pretty much where my front delt is. Been like this a few weeks, just started backing off this week.

Yeah, it sucks. I’ve dealt with shoulder issues in the past. Biggest pain in the ass. Icy hot definitely works, but rest is best. You don’t want to fukk up anything further.

I'm hoping it's just a tendon/muscle strain and nothing is torn. I still have full range and no noticeable weakness other than me just babying it.

I advice you to be careful as all hell.

I have a self diagnosed partial bicep tendon tear in the shoulder. I can tell by popeye deformity in the bicep during certain poses.

Could barely bench the bar for like 5 months, and experienced strong pain still for about a year or so after. The pain is in the crevice where the front delt meets the pec. Did it setting a PR on bench

It’s very hard to repair and many doctors won’t do it just because it’s mostly cosmetic. A full bicep tendon tear makes your hard look like complete chit. Jay Cutler had one, but he got lucky with a good fix. Look up Larry Wheels, he has one and never got it fixed

Don’t head down the path of full tear

Multiple recent pr’s sounds like you tweaked something. Take it easy with it for a cpl weeks then ease back into weight. If it still hurts you fukked something up.

Dont take a super wide grip when you bench. I f’d my chit up that way. Once they are constantly hurting it almost never goes completely away.

Thanks man, just got to the office so will fire these up.

Probably flared elbows, tuck them towards your side as you're lowering it. Also make sure your grip isn't too wide or narrow. Plus don't lower the bar by your face or stomach, keep it in line with your chest

Record yourself if you have to and try to see if you can identify any of these problems, especially flared elbows
Yeah I keep the bar in line with my chest/nips and I'm pretty diligent on keeping a 45 degree angle from my body. I have taken a wider grip lately, also my hands sweat like a mofo so sometimes by the time my set is done, they have slid an extra finger's space.

I might have to chalk up for benching, as ghey as it sounds. I drench paper towels between sets just wiping my sweaty hands.

But I very easily could have compromised form struggling on a final rep, just hope it's nothing serious.

aw fuk mayne. What were symptoms? I have full range of motion and no strength loss, other than subconsciously protecting it. Was there something specific that I should test/look out for in my self diagnosis?

Yeah I definitely don't want to be on that path. My discomfort is basically where my front delt is. I don't have any noticeable weakness though but I want to be clear of any pain in effort to avoid any further injury. Shoulders are so sensitive and we beat the hell out of them. I did some light dumbbells' Tuesday but I'm about to take a week or two off.

I did have a bit of radiating pain down my bicep so I'm guessing it could be the tendon but I don't feel pain inside my shoulder or in the bone per se. Sleeping on it kinda hurts though. The sensation is similar to needing to crack your knuckles.

Yeah idk what happened but I literally added like 40lbs to my bench over a few months. Been lifting for almost 10 years and my bench always sucked. Then I got this momentum with it and just kept pushing. It's like you get a step ahead and you fear losing it. I swear we're our own worst enemy.

As I mentioned above, I have been going a bit wider, I put my ring fingers on the ring of the bar but my clammy/sweaty hands always slide a bit during my set.

I'm going to take a week or two off then start fresh with a more narrow grip. Either pinky on the ring or use my thumb to measure out from the center knurling.

TBH I prefer dumbbells because you can drop them if you fail and your form isn't compromised by the bar.

Problem is that the dumbell section of my gym is so crowded and the heavier ones are in a corner so maneuvering around people with heavy weights in my hand get's risky. Not to mention I pop a blood vessel in my finger gripping anything over 85's. That's why I switched to benching again but I started going back to DB this week. Pain was less for sure but kept it light.

I've been hounding our management to get a hammer strength chest machine. They're such ****gets sometimes but everyone knows we need one.
