But they are pretty good to flaunt and attract gold diggers provided they are from a well known brand

A rolex is a better store of value than money in the bank, by far. Also a very low risk investment.

I posted this in another thread:
A full head of hair with a Norwood 0 hairline will MOG any luxury watch, sports car, wardrobe or job title....
You'd be better off spending that money on a hair transplant and PEDs to get a solid hairline and physique than wasting it on a damn watch...

This is poor people cope. When you start making real money and mixing in elite circles, it doesn't matter what peasants think because the real people know. Status symbols are extremely powerful networking tools.

I'll never stop saying this
Luxury items are the biggest form of pimping.
A multinational corporation corporation brainwashes you to think that something is worth 100X its actual value.
Now imagine working really hard just to donate your hard earned money to Gucci, Ferrari, Fendi, Balmain, Versace, Porsche, Rolex, or Philip patek. To add insult to injury, these companies are often owned by multimillionaires or even billionaires ( in the case of LVMH ).
So you're taking your hard earned pleb money and giving to elites that are already rich.
How's that different from a street walker giving all of her money to her pimp?
It's actually worse.
Really pathetic in my opinion.
I have a lot of respect for people that wear fakes .

You'd think but actually whenever I see someone with a nice watch I immediately notice. as long as the rest of their fashion is decent. Just another accessory for the whole ensemble.

Luxury watches aren't meant to be a status symbol really. Most watch collectors purchase the time piece for the hand work and mechanical craftsmanship. The higher end watches like Rolex Philp Patek zenith etc all have really awesome designs and craftsmanship probably one of the last things on this earth where labor and dexterity are appreciated. Even cheaper watches like orient and Seiko make some good pieces. It's more of an interest/hobby for most who enjoy watches, which is why they will refer to them as time pieces
