Luxury items are the biggest form of pimping.
A multinational corporation corporation brainwashes you to think that something is worth 100X its actual value.
Now imagine working really hard just to donate your hard earned money to Gucci, Ferrari, Fendi, Balmain, Versace, Porsche, Rolex, or Philip patek. To add insult to injury, these companies are often owned by multimillionaires or even billionaires ( in the case of LVMH ).
So you're taking your hard earned pleb money and giving to elites that are already rich.
How's that different from a street walker giving all of her money to her pimp?
It's actually worse.
Really pathetic in my opinion.
I have a lot of respect for people that wear fakes .

Explain this further. I don't think I agree. If someone can afford luxury things and they like luxury things, my thought is more power to them

completely agree regarding clothes, you'll see people wearing a Armani Exchange T shirt that just has the logo AX on it and paid 100 dollars for it while it's just a 100% t shirt with ****ty stitching.
However, as far as cars, a Mercedes luxury car is worth its sticker price I think. That engineering is too damn good.

Not sure I can follow you, you're acting as if burger flippers are buying Ferraris.
Yeah, buying some random overpriced crap by maxing out your credit cards is retarded, but it has nothing to do with luxury items.

It depends.
Luxury items is a thread that holds the fabric of society together.
- it gives more meaning to what otherwise would just be an ordinary item(ordinary textile into demanded clothes).
- it pushes people to work harder, to earn the money to buy the product. This is real economy stimulation.
If anything, luxury items isn't being given its dues. And it's actually being watered down(low tier BMW, low tier Lexus)
In sociology, we are taught of something called - symbolic perspective. Basically, we give meaning to things so that we can tell what is what - mom, sis, bro, etc. Luxury items are also given this symbolic meaning, so we can differentiate between non luxury and luxury.
I think the disagreement comes from what some of us consider luxury and not luxury. For example, I don't consider being white a luxury. Being Asian is(East Asian)

They are free to indulge.
The truth is that most people are buying it for status, and not necessarily for its aesthetic or utilitarian value.
Just because they can afford it, it doesn't mean they should buy it.
I explained the main argument against buying.
You're donating your 99%er money to top 0.01%.

You're paying for status, which is the result of marketing and subsequent mental manipulation by these brands.

If you're not a multimillionaires with money you didn't work for, I clearly don't see the point of donating your money to other multimillionaires.
I guess the programing and social conditioning runs too deep for a lot of people to have discernment.

There's a big difference between paying a 1000% mark-up vs a 50% mark-up.
It's a spectrum.
The other nuance is the availability of choice.
There are many choices for clothes/watches that are aesthetically pleasing with a spectrum of mark-up percentage.
Why buy a pair of $1200 amiri or Balmain jeans when you can buy another one that is 10 times cheaper and will look and feel exactly the same?
Yes my money is still going to a millionaire, but much less of it is going.
That's the nuance

And in terms of the money going to rich people, it all evens out in the end. Selling a lot to the plebs at lower prices or selling fewer to the rich at high prices, evens itself out in a way. It really doesn't matter if your money goes to either one

AX is indeed a good example of a made in Asia branded as a European clothing company.
But, I own made in Italy, Spain and even poor ass Portugal clothing and it chits all over Bangladesh, Chitna crap that it’s ready to be disposed of after one wash.
So, in reality you’re either buying a clothing item with a 3-4 washes expiration on it or a high quality/manufacturing item with years worth of use.

I definitely agree there's room in between. Like no name brands putting out something good or better
But.. typically if their quality wasn't up to their price tag they wouldn't do business
And I also agree this perception allows for a little play and leeway as well
But it's Def true if it were a piece of crap priced at 100k it wouldn't last long

You're only a cuck if you break the bank over these things, which most ppl do. When ppl make a lot of money, their outlook on money changes. The spending ratio and it's effect are not the same for regular middle class ppl.
