Not just boomers. When I was 17 I had friends who golfed regularly. Just normal dudes not nerds or anything. I never got into it but it seems like a fun way to chill with the boys while getting a tan and some exercise.
Beats sitting in the basement smelling of stale semen with cheeto dust all over the keyboard like you do

It's a cool sport if you know how to swing and play it. Relaxing, nice atmosphere, get to chill in nature, drive golf carts around and chat and drink with the boys while playing it.

Business wise, it's good for business deals and building your network.

yeah which is why I called it 'activity' not a sport. I remember this 'executive' from an old job, looks like a walking heart attack, chubby, red face, animated...goes to golf every weekend, and brags about golfing with clients.

Very little strength and athleticism needed. Just an excuse to escape a family you hate and drink outside with friends. That's my take on why most guys like golf.

Describing Golf as a boomer activity is silly. You perceive it that way because the median age is 54, but that's someone born in 1966, meaning just under half of golfers are younger than that, all the way down to kids. My mother's 68 and just took it up this year because she retired, which is probably what 68 year olds were doing 30 years ago when they retired and she was 38 telling her friends that golf's a stupid game that only silents play.
