It doesn’t tone up your body like weights. Just a 45 minute session of lifting 3-4x a week plus some cardio like walking or tennis 3x a week is great and not too hard on your joints.
Lifting and walking keeps you moving well into your 80s. The ancient guys at the gym all walk, often to and from the gym.
Eat in a deficit to lose weight.
Hit your protein and fat minimums to stay healthy and keep your gainz.
Lift heavy and do HIIT to look and feel awesome.

Running is good, TRAIL running is goat

BRB works out more leg muscles

BRB have to stay somewhat focused the entire time to navigate your landscape

BRB every run is different

BRB become one with nature. Go full Pocahontas with deer running around you

Still prefer lifting. Aesthetics and feeling can’t be beat. That said when you go all out sprint it pushes your body to a limit like nothing else.

Weighing 195lbs and running a 5 min mile makes you feel like a blitzkrieg

Came in to say this. Love running but legs are fukt (username actually different leg injury). Taking another stab at things now, but I'm not super optimistic since I've been failing at running for 10 years now. I've definitely gotten wiser though, so there's a chance.

Exactly. I ran 2-3 miles a few times a week when I was in my 20s, but once I had a baby it was too uncomfortable to run. I have to wear 2 sports bras and pregnancy increases the size of your hips. So I went into hiking instead, plus tennis. But now tennis is uncomfortable, so I'm transitioning from singles to doubles.

It's nice that the gym reopened so I can get back into lifting again.

Agreed, a long walk is enjoyable. When it comes to sports I don’t even think about how tired I am but running to run I constantly think about how much it sux.

jump rope is better than running

also less risk of being mugged, raped, killed, or dismembered

This. Don't do this. People who think running 5 miles a day or cross country isn't healthy imo. Its just like why???? Why would you want to look like a Olympic marathon runner. .

1 day of long cardio a week works for me 1.5-2.5mile jog. Makes me feel good. A good shock to my system to shake things up.

On the other end of the spectrum from don’t be retarded running 5mi a day

We have you, the don’t be retarded and think jogging for 20mins counts as “long cardio”

That’s like the bare minimum requirement for somthing to count as cardio

He didn't look like an Olympic marathon runner at all as our genes are Irish and kind of stocky/muscular. He did run marathons, though. I've got some young cross country runners in the family and I worry that they'll end up like my Dad. He literally wears ankle braces and knee braces and needs 2 canes to walk at age 78. Most of the other people I know at that age can walk just fine.

People in my family do everything to the extreme.

But what you do is fine. It's not excessive.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

I think 10 miles is excessive, but OP is kind of on-point that cardio is critical. I've been doing Legs-Push-Pull-Cardio-Rest-Repeat and feel a lot better adding some cardio in. I'm thinking my heart will also thank me later. Being strong is kind of useless if you're a bloatlord that can't run a mile in sub-8 minutes like a lot of bodybuilders I know.

You mean the same army guys at 65 running 5 miles and doing 100 push ups easily?
