Florida Teacher Arrested After Snapchat Video Showed Her Engaged In Unprotected Sex

LAKELAND, Florida – A 20-year old substitute English teacher at Lakeland High School was arrested on Friday after it was alleged she had sexually battered a student — 16-years or younger.

Polk County Deputies say Ayanna Davis of Lakeland admitted to detectives that she had unprotected sex with the student on four occasions, twice at his house, and twice at her house.

The investigation began on Friday, December 3rd after an LHS student informed Lakeland Police Department School Resource officers about the existence of a video on Snapchat showing Davis and another student having sex. The student claimed the video was shown to a large group of LHS football players.

Isnt the age of consent 18 in florida, but a 16/17 year old allowed to have sex with a <23 without repercussions to that 23 year old?

or i'm not understanding the law right..

in some states it only requires a certin # of credit hours (indiana used to be like that). other states its a bachelors.

You are right.

Section 943.04354, F.S. (“Romeo and Juliet” Law):
• Provides petition process for removal of the requirement to register for qualifying offenders
who are already on the sex offender registry.
• For offenses that occurred on or after July 1, 2007, allows qualifying offenders to make a
motion to the court for relief of the requirement to register.
• Allows a 4 year age gap between the victim and the offender for exclusion of the registration
requirements for certain offenses that are consensual.
• Victim must be at least 14 but no older than 17 years of age.
Section 794.05, F.S.:
•Provides an age-gap provision that allows a 16 or 17 year old to consent to consensual conduct
with a person 16-23 years of age.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard now grown women brag about how they were sexually active when they were 15/16 but will also be the first to say any man over 18 sleeping with 15/16 year old women is a disgusting rapist.

Not saying they are/aren't but its a very funny double standard when it wasnt rape in their case, but it is in every other case, unless it is one of their friends telling them how it was them when they were a 16 year old female too

Yep. Its just odd how women supposedly "mature" faster but if they sleep with someone older they are young and were manipulated. A boy sleeps with a grown woman and he made a conscious decision to do it. No one bats an eye. Those girls knew exactly what they were doing, hell when I was in school I always heard about them only wanting to sleep with grown men.

Sentences for guys is still light years worse than what women get but its a start.
