Yea...it is kind of sad. All my friends are divorced. And I know very few long time married couples. I have seen the pain and heartbreak of divorce. I grew up in a divorced household where my dad was not a good husband and my mom finally told him to go when I was in highschool. The only advice I can share is pick the right one. For me, I recognize so much more now than I understood back then. I know now that it is easy to be a 'good' husband when you really care more about your spouses happiness than your own. Call that 'cucked', but if you find the right person where they give you the same in return, life is pretty easy.

The marriage has had rough points, and it took work from both of us to value what it is we have. It kind of becomes something you are protective of. My wife actually ended a long relationship with a girl who she have become almost best friends with, because she noticed that her friend tried to always drive wedges between me and my wife. She talked bad about me and she herself was unhappy in her marriage and tried to make my wife dislike me.

I have a son and a daughter. I tell them look at the people you date. Look how they are with their families. Look how they treat their friends and look how they treat you. Values are a big thing. Go out and bang all the girls you want and have fun. I had my share of fun, and dont get me wrong, as a man I still would enjoy banging some random girls. But when you find the right thing, you find the motivation to not screw it up.

I took a decade off before finding my way back to the gym and then this forum. Comebacks are awesome and muscle memory is very real. I came back at 36 and am 48 now. Never missed or skipped since coming back. I have seen the other side, and I make sure I get my a$$ in the gym whether I want to go or not. Way too many years invested to give up. Just make it part of life!


As I was typing this, my wife was playing some christmas music. She would kill me if she ever knew I recorded her, but this fits with the Merry Christmas theme. As long as you ignore my son gaming down stairs. (can hear his voice off in the distance)


Really cool time of the year. Tomorrow we are getting to make a kids christmas dream come true. A guy I know reached out to me from the car community and asked if I knew anyone with a green lambo that would make a 5 year olds christmas wish to santa come true. I reached out to some buddies and I have a 6 or 7 lambos set up to surprise the kid tomorrow. 3 are green so I think he will be ok with the performante, aventador, and my huracan crashing the party. For the green, we have an SVJ, a 610 an Evo. Also will be the 2nd 992 GT3 delivered in the US. A McLaren 600lt and a few GT3RS's. I also bought a little green lambo for the kid. Stuff like this is really one of the best things about being lucky enough to have a car like this. Sharing it with others, especially little kids! Going to bring my son along and let him enjoy the good times! Then we are all going for a drive and lunch after.

Funny. Actually I probably did just get done cutting the grass. Yes, I cut my own grass, and weed wack, and mulch...etc. No landscaper and 3 ac to take care of. I could easily afford to pay someone to cut my grass, but something about that does not feel right to me. Maybe when I am at a point in my life where I cant do it.


As for the blower, here is said pic of my 'poverty' blower. It actually is the best commercial Echo blower you can buy. Kind of overkill, but that is the way I am. I also keep a New Holland skid steer in my back yard...just in case.


I am a traide at heart my friend and there is no work I am above. That is a pic of my truck from a mulch run I did in spring. Did two like that. My kids spread the bags out and my wife and I placed it. Hard work is good for you. Especially doing it as a family.

I use software called Chief Archiect. Been using it since 98. Obviously it has gotten better over the years. I thought about switching to several others over the years, but I am so used to using it, I am most efficient in the end and that is what matters.


On my own home, I did quite a bit of stuff myself. There is really no part of construction I cant do. But it does not make sense for me to do paint or drywall as an example. I did about 50% of the tile work, especially some of the detailed stuff. My wife did it right along side me. My wife and I built our stair cases. The treads are made from trees I had cut down a year eariler when clearing the lot. Her and I milled each one. They weigh about 75lbs each. She would feed them to me through the planer and then I would guide them through, stack and move on to the next one. My wife is not afriad of doing any type of work. She actually helped me pour the concrete on our front porch when one of my guys did not show up and concrete was here. Boots on, raking concrete with me (srs)

She and I made the top for our island the same way. Milled from the trees off our properly.

Looking back, we did a lot ourselves. Her and I alone graded and formed our 300' driveway. She was on the laser level, telling me elevation points, and me on my skid steer. Later we formed it all...just her and I.

We also did all the hardwoods as a family. My son, daughter wife and I. Also had a few friends help out.

I think building our home together really brought us even closer. NEVER could have done it without her. It is really cool to see the benefits of your work, and designing the home together and then building it, I mean REALLY building it together, was a great experience for us.

A few pics from construction, but yea, I was on the job every day... Like I said. I am a tradie at heart and no matter how much money I have, I enjoy doing things with my own hands and creating them. Not just envisioning them, but actually doing the work.















Not afraid of any kind of work. This is what I looked like after tending to fires burning almost 1 1 /2 acres of tree clearing. Using my grapple bucket on my skid steer and lighting about 5 fires and feeding them all day. Burned for 2 solid days. (saved me about 20k in hauling costs since I was able to get a burn permit. Just needed the equipment to feed and tend it)

Thanks for putting so much detail into these posts, it's good to see people who have made it give advice about how to get to where they're at. I appreciate it.

Some advice. I have been designing full time for over 10 years. I have come across a few clients in that time who wanted to 'help' with the design and several who had even purchased design software. There is not a single one of them that brought me anything useful. But some were so attached to what they had drawn I had to spend hours trying to explain to them why many things they drew were either impractical, were lacking in another element of design.

There is so much more to designing than drawing pretty pictures. Prior to design, I spent many years in the field. Starting way back in the 90's swining a hammer to mid 2000 where I was CG'ing million dollar homes. My advice to you is dont try to design your own home. By all means, clip and save all kinds of things for inspiration that you can give to someone who does it everyday. You can then design the home though them as your translator. I have seen so many people who try to draw thier own, but their designs fall within the limits of what they can make the software do. I have seen countless others who dont understand building code of what can and can not be done. Even simple concepts like egress window requirements. ETC.

Dont do it. Pay someone who comes recommended well and let them. You are going to pay $3500 for software and then countless hours trying to figure out how to work it. Only to find yourself constantly at a place limited by your ability to do something. BUT the whole time you dont know things like a laundry room needs a 2-8 door or the washer wont fit into the room. Or a window in a bedroom cant have a sill greater than 42" and qualify for egress (and a million other little things).


I have many years doing this and find someone good and get the best home you can. Not the best home you can figure out how to draw yourself.
