this is what you make as an average performer, hitting 100% of your quota on the nose.

i'm a top 10% performer at my current company but the ceiling is much lower than a lot of these where you see top performers making $500-$800k

have been doing ~250k for past few years (with exception of 2019 because i got canned for going psycho and physically threatening my manager)



i wouldn't mind making a jump to one of these spots but i'd definitely miss the flexibility of my current gig only working ~15 - 20 hrs a week

classic grass is always greener type scenario... i want to be happy with this but i think about how great it would be to make $400, $500, $700k etc.

So I'm pretty well-versed with the comp structure of several of those companies and they all have SDRs who hand over the enterprise leads after a shorter disco call. Some of those salaries are quite inflated. Sorry :/ Enterprise sales is awesome but this isn't the full picture. I'm not trying to discourage you, just want to be realistic.

My goal is to be a PIMCO sales guy in Newport beach - would be the dream

At my old company we had 5 guys make over 1 million (50 sales guys)

We sell construction equipment and ppe etc. Make $60k base + benefits and year-end bonus. Might attempt to hit six figurines in a few years if things keep going the way they are. Kind of chilling tbh, don't have any intention to leave. Sell things on Amazon in my spare time for extra. I'm from Mississippi/Alabama though to put things into perspective

It is not rare for an entry level engineer to be making 240k and upwards of 380k+ with stock grants at a top company

Senior engineers making 600k-700k after 10 years. Sounds more promising than sales tbh

it's all relative bro . . . i live in the NYC area (city 30 min outside) so my cost-of-living is probably insane compared to yours in MS/AL


if you make enough to do what you want, live comfortably and also put away some money in the bank / investments, then life is good (ded fkn Srs)

Most the people I know in sales make more than doctors and lawyers and don’t even work 40 hours per week when tthey build their book of business srs.

this is inaccurate as fukk. "not rare"? Salary for engineers (which is broad btw, but the term you used) is $60k.

I assume you are meaning tech, which in itself "big tech" is a small percentage of that. And insofar as "big tech", google engineers start out at about $189 total comp.

some i'm sure -- but a lot of these are trusted brands in the tech space (microsoft, google, okta, workday, datadog, seismic, appian).
